The chair is one of the most common projects for design students because it requires a lot of creativity to turn an everyday mundane object that has been redesigned countless times into something innovative—the equivalent of the design world's "How can you sell me this ordinary fountain pen?" ”? Designers Martinelli Venezia and Alessandro Stabile discuss the concept of a chair representing the contemporary world in terms of production techniques, sales methods and characteristics. The chairman must be an iconic, democratic product that means selling online and explores the theme of hyper-continuity.
The chair 1:1 was born after a rigorous design process of five years. Venice and Stabir finally achieved their goal of creating an installable/detachable chair with each piece of it shaped in one go. Compared to traditional chairs, this optimizes mold size, speeds up production, and greatly reduces waste. The designer group said: "The chair was sold as soon as it came out of the mold, bypassing a few steps; it would be the buyer who would complete the process: this is what we call hypercontinence." ”。“ When looking at the chair in a 1:1 ratio, it is inevitable that there will be a shock from the past, thinking of the boxed toy bag. In this case, there are neither screws nor bolts: it is easy and quick to assemble. Putting on an object will make you connect with it and make you feel its full value; it will build an emotion that prevents you from getting rid of it. ”
Fasteners for individual parts are easy to produce and have extremely high corrosion resistance. It's designed to facilitate storage, transport and transport – 26 boxed chairs make up just 1 square metre, which is key to increasing online sales and sustainable shipping! "When designing, we often wonder if it's the right thing to do in a world full of products, using materials like plastics in the direction of hyper-serialization. However, we believe that the real mistake is to combine it with other materials that are difficult to recycle and use it in packaging or single-use products," explains Venezia and Stabile. A sustainable product also has a long service life, which reduces the need for replacement and therefore over-consumption as well as production waste, which is why chairs 1:1 are made of a single material.
