For generations, the crown prince is a very sensitive matter, on the one hand, the prince is the emperor's son, is the future heir to the imperial throne, on the other hand, he is also the emperor's natural political enemy, once the crown prince is determined, the emperor can die.
Therefore, whoever proposes to establish a reserve must risk killing his head.
Song Renzong was indeed suspicious of Bao Zheng, and Bao Zheng asked Song Renzong why he had delayed establishing the crown prince, but Song Renzong did not answer positively, but asked him who he wanted to establish. Hearing this, Song Renzong turned from anger to joy, and later chose a prince from among his nephews, that is, the later Song Yingzong.
Bao Zheng's time in charge of Kaifeng Province was short, only one year. His real position was not kaifeng fu yin, but quanzhi kaifeng fu.
Kaifeng Province was the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty, and the fu yin was generally held by the crown prince, who was above the prime minister, and was a zhengyipin member who could control the administration and military of the capital. Therefore, the position is very important, never granted to foreign ministers, generally foreign ministers are appointed to know Kaifeng Province, that is, Kaifeng Province Prefect.
Bao Zheng served as the governor of Kaifeng Province, but actually served as the acting prefect of Kaifeng Province, which was an official position from Sanpin.
