After 8 days of fierce duels, the 2021 National Youth Table Tennis Championships have officially ended on October 27 in Weihai, Shandong, and the champions of each event have been released, among which the singles champions who have attracted much attention belong to 18-year-old Xiang Peng and 17-year-old Ku Man, who beat the Olympic champion Chen Meng in the recent Table Tennis Super League, which is indeed a rare achievement.
After the competition, Liu Guoliang, chairman of the Chinese Table Tennis Association, together with Wang Nan, a former national table tennis grand slam player and now chairman of Weihai Nanhai Table Tennis Training Base Management Co., Ltd., presented awards to the athletes, and placed high hopes on the hope star of the Chinese team: all are good!
Affected by the epidemic and Olympic preparations, many of the main world champions of national table tennis in recent times have not had many opportunities to participate in international competitions, and other young players are even more so, so everyone can only exercise in China, and the National Youth Table Tennis Championship is a competition specially designed to screen and examine them.
According to the regulations, the top 2 singles players can directly advance to the national second team, and the top 8 can participate in the 2022 National Outstanding Youth Training Camp, which also makes those athletes who are still at the provincial team level get more opportunities for progress.
However, after the start of the game, the players who were already on the national team were obviously more dominant, so they soon began to dominate the situation in various sports – it is no wonder that being able to train in the world's strongest team is the best way to improve their skills, so it is natural that they can get ahead of the curve.
In the group event, the Zhejiang men's team led by Xiang Peng and the Shanghai women's team led by Chen Yi played well and won the championship, while chen Yuanyu and Ku Man's Jiangsu team were relegated to the second place; in singles, Xiang Peng and Ku Man successfully reached the top, and Lin Shidong and Zhong Geman won the second place; as for the mixed doubles, they still won the championship against the Peng/Ku Man combination, which shows that their level is indeed much higher than that of many of their peers.
Before that, the 15-year-old youngster was almost unknown, but this Youth Championship won the first team of Chen Yi, which was also a big upset, and finally won the women's singles runner-up, promoted to the second team, and was recognized by fans and friends, but the follow-up words have to be observed.
In December this year, Xiang Peng, KuMan and other 8 young players will travel to Portugal to participate in the World Table Tennis Youth Championships to compete against Matsushima Huikong, Zhang Benmeihe (Zhang Benzhihe's sister), and hereby wish the Chinese young players a good performance and win the championship gold medal triumph: Come on, everyone!
