Single shake, double shake, long rope... At Suining County Riding Road Primary School in Jiangsu Province, the children found their own growing joy from the "pattern jump rope". Riding Road Primary School is a village-level primary school with only 210 students, including 130 left-behind children. Since 2010, the school has used the big recess and sunshine physical education classes to develop the sport of jump rope. A thin jump rope, in the hands of children, is like being magically cast, jumping out of the unpredictable tricks: there are basic jumping methods such as single jumping, double shaking, collective jumping, as well as wheel jumping, interactive jumping, salute jumping, crotch jumping, circular cross jumping and other tricks. The school has set up twelve clubs related to skipping rope, suitable for students of all ages and levels. In the morning exercises, recess or after school, children gather on the playground to practice, choreograph and compete in new movements. So far, they have created more than 300 kinds of jump rope patterns, many of which are named after students. "We are a rural primary school with a limited number of teaching staff, tight school funds, and a relative lack of sports equipment. Children learn to jump rope, not only low cost, but also to make the whole body move", said Liu Yan, a synchronized jump rope instructor at Riding Road Primary School, "Through jump rope, the children not only exercised their bodies, but also enhanced their self-confidence and team spirit."
