South Korean police investigated the authenticity of Tablo's academic qualifications after receiving the report and found that Tablo was indeed admitted to Stanford University in September 1998 and received a bachelor's degree in March 2001 and a master's degree in June 2002.
On October 1, 2010, MBC television broadcast a special program called "Tablo Goes to Stanford University", which recorded Tablo and the special program film crew going directly to Stanford University. Following the camera, in order to prove his identity, Tablo personally printed out his graduation certificate and transcript at the school.
On July 6, 2012, the Seoul District Court tried a case of netizens who spread rumors and slandered Tablo. The Seoul District Court sentenced two netizens who defamed Tablo to 10 months' imprisonment each, and sentenced the other four netizens to 8 months' imprisonment with a two-year suspension of execution, and a 10-month sentence with a two-year suspension of execution.
