On May 7, 2021, the first meeting of the leading group for the construction of The Canal New Area was held at the Gymnasium of the Canal New Area, which marked that the development and construction of the Canal New Area of Ququ County entered the implementation stage. Wang Feihu, secretary of the county party committee, attended the meeting and stressed: It is necessary to build a livable and workable future city with high quality, and draw a new chapter in the era of "one city in a thousand years".

Quxian Tangqu New Area is located in the north of Qucheng, the territory has "one river and one river", has "one lake, one island and one battlefield" natural resource advantages, the new area plans 15 square kilometers of North City New Area, 10 square kilometers of high-speed rail new city, 5 square kilometers of Bameng Peninsula (Forget Worry Island) three major groups, with a total area of about 30 square kilometers. The Tangqu New Area will fully rely on the transportation location advantages of "two high-speed and one high-speed railway" to gather industries and talents.
In the "Quxian Urban Master Plan (2011-2030)", the strategic plan of "urban northward" is clarified, so that the north of the city contains infinite vitality.
In recent years, the development of the north of the city is obvious to all, since the opening of the three bridges of the Qujiang River, the transportation, education, commerce and other supporting facilities in the north of the city have been continuously upgraded and improved, and the North City New Area is building a high-quality riverside town cluster.

After the completion of the project, it will create a national 4A-level tourist scenic spot, which will improve urban functions, enhance urban quality, enrich urban formats, promote economic growth, create a new city business card, accelerate the construction of a new positioning of "one district, three places and one city", play an active role in the construction of "Tefu Mei'an" Quxian County, and inject strong development momentum into the northern new area of Quxian County.
The unique regional resource endowment and the all-age preferential supporting facilities created by multiple formats will be completed through three to five years of development and construction, which will surely become a new business card of cultural tourism in Quxian County.
It is reported that after the completion of the construction of the project, it can accept 1-2 million tourists per year, and can bring about 1,000 jobs to the surrounding masses in the future.
