On October 17, 2019, after Wang Xiaoxing (pseudonym) and his wife had a conflict over trivial matters, the two came to the home of their father-in-law Yao Sledgehammer (pseudonym) in a community in Pengyang.

Yao Sledgehammer contacted others to mediate. During the mediation process, Yao Sledgehammer learned that his daughter was injured, and suspected that the injury was caused by Wang Xiaoxing, so he took a kitchen knife from the kitchen and beat and slashed Wang Xiaoxing.

After being injured, Wang Xiaoxing was sent to Pengyang County People's Hospital for examination, and due to serious injuries, he was transferred to Guyuan People's Hospital on the same day.

The injuries were diagnosed as: head injury, scalp laceration, skin laceration on the left shoulder (knife slashing), lumbar injury, and fracture of the transverse process on the left side of the lumbar vertebral body.

After 20 days of treatment in the emergency department, Wang Xiaoxing was transferred to the Wonju District People's Hospital in Guyuan City for 11 days. After being discharged from the hospital, Wang Xiaoxing went to the Third People's Hospital of Yinchuan City and the People's Hospital of Yinchuan City for examination.

In December 2019, according to the guyuan Zhengyuan judicial laboratory, Wang Xiaoxing's 3 left transverse process fracture of the vertebral body constituted a minor injury of the second degree, and the scalp laceration and the left shoulder skin laceration constituted a minor injury.

Back to the time after the incident, Wang Xiaoxing called the police, and Yao Sledgehammer waited at the scene, and then summoned to the case according to law to truthfully confess his crime.

On May 20, 2020, the Pengyang County People's Procuratorate charged defendant Yao Sledgehammer with intentional injury and filed a public indictment with the Pengyang County People's Court.

After the court accepted the case, in the course of the litigation, Wang Xiaoxing, the plaintiff in the attached civil lawsuit, filed an attached civil lawsuit with the court on the grounds that the defendant Yao Sledgehammer's criminal acts caused economic losses to him, demanding that the defendant compensate for medical expenses of 51,000 yuan, lost work expenses of 4,925.9 yuan, nursing expenses of 4,925.9 yuan, hospital meal subsidies of 3,100 yuan, nutrition expenses of 1,550 yuan, and transportation costs of 3,000 yuan, for a total of 68,501.8 yuan.

The Pengyang County People's Court held a public hearing on June 2, 2020.

After trial, the verdict was as follows:

1. Defendant Yao Sledgehammer committed the crime of intentional injury and was sentenced to one year's imprisonment with a two-year suspended sentence.

2. A single-edged kitchen knife, the tool for committing the crime, shall be confiscated in accordance with law.

3. Defendant Yao Sledgehammer compensated the plaintiff in the attached civil lawsuit Wang Xiaoxing for economic losses of 33,995.16 yuan after his injury, and 20,000 yuan had been paid, and the remaining 13,995.16 yuan was performed within 30 days after the judgment took legal effect.

4. Reject the other litigation claims of the plaintiff wang Xiaoxing in the attached civil action.
