According to statistics, as of 2020, Nayong County has planted more than 130,000 mu of agate red cherries, and more than 70,000 farmers have benefited from the cherry industry; in the main production areas of Dongguan Township and Weixin Town, more than 60% of the economic income of the masses comes from agate red cherries, and the poverty reduction of many poor townships in Nayong also relies on this industry.

Agate red cherries stand out for their "large, thick flesh, sweet taste, fresh color" characteristics, favored by the majority of consumers; at the same time, the quality of cherries will also be affected by weather factors such as rainfall, "because the agate red cherry has a thin skin, it is easy to crack when it encounters rain, and when it rains more, it will reduce the sugar content in the fruit." Xu Fujun explained. Nayong this year's rain is particularly heavy, affecting cherry sales, pulling down prices, according to Xu Fujun estimates, this year Nayong Total Creek River Basin cherry growers will reduce their income by nearly 10 million yuan.

He said that under normal conditions, the shelf life of cherries is generally only three or four days, and if it is picked on a rainy day and transported over long distances, this time will be shorter! To this end, his next step is to build a preservation warehouse, at which time the picked cherries can be put in the warehouse for a period of pre-cooling, and then shipped to a distant area through the appropriate packaging, so that the cherry preservation period can reach more than a week.
