Quanzhou, June 12 (Reporter Sun Hong) Coinciding with China's 5th Cultural and Natural Heritage Day, the 2021 Cultural and Natural Heritage Day Fujian Main Event was held in Quanzhou, an important starting point of the ancient "Maritime Silk Road".

With the theme of "Cultural Relics Reflect the Centennial Journey and the People's Intangible Cultural Heritage shared by the people", this event shows the achievements of the development of cultural relics in Fujian and Quanzhou and the style of cultural relics workers, publicizes the laws and regulations on the protection of cultural heritage, creates a strong social atmosphere for the protection of cultural heritage, inherits and promotes the excellent traditional Chinese culture, mobilizes the whole society to pay attention to and participate in the protection of heritage, and enhances cultural self-confidence.

The 44th World Heritage Conference will be held in July in Fuzhou, Fujian Province. Fu Qisheng, a member of the Party Group of the Fujian Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and director of the Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau, pointed out that it is of special significance to celebrate China's 2021 Cultural and Natural Heritage Day in Quanzhou at an important time when the series of heritages of "Quanzhou: Song and Yuan China's World Marine Trade Center" was recommended for inscription on the World Heritage List by the International Council on Monuments and Sites.

It is reported that during the event, a series of cultural heritage exhibitions with prominent themes, clear orientation and rich connotations were planned and launched to display fine products and publicity and dissemination activities for the protection and utilization of cultural relics, showing the fruitful results of the protection and utilization of cultural heritage in Fujian Province and the inheritance practice in an all-round and multi-angle manner, and continuously meeting the needs of the people for a better life.

Quanzhou is one of the first batch of historical and cultural cities announced by the State Council, a national-level Minnan cultural and ecological protection zone, a world marine trade center in the Song and Yuan dynasties, and has traded with more than 100 countries and regions, and is known as a "living fossil" that records the history of the ancient Silk Road. Quanzhou has 44 national key cultural relics protection units, ranking first in Fujian Province, and also has 5 world-class "intangible cultural heritage" lists and 36 national "intangible cultural heritage" lists, ranking third among prefecture-level cities in the country.

Zhou Zhenping, vice mayor of Quanzhou, said that Quanzhou has always attached great importance to the protection of cultural heritage, taken the lead in implementing legislation on the protection of cultural heritage, established the Quanzhou Heritage Protection and Management Center, the Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, and established a database of 100 cultural heritage protection experts, a 1,000-person volunteer service team, and a 1,000-person front-line cultural relics inspector, forming a good pattern of "government leadership, departmental co-management, judicial supervision, and social participation".
