The first noble egg produced by a pure grass farm
Eggs are a daily necessity, but also a problematic food, hormones, antibiotics, colorants make us talk about discoloration. As new parents, in order to give our children a reliable egg, we embarked on the arduous road of raising chickens.
Why choose a noble concubine?
When I was a child, every household in the countryside raised chickens, and the eggs were particularly fragrant to eat, which was very different from the so-called "chai eggs" in the supermarket now. First, the rural chickens are running casually in front of the house and behind the house, and the amount of chicken movement is very large; the second is that the chickens find their own food, what to eat, and ensure the diversity of food. It can be seen that these two points contribute to the delicious taste of eggs. Since you have made up your mind to raise chickens, you must also follow this method to produce delicious eggs and delicious chicken.
If the breeding method is determined, what species should be raised? More than 200 chicken breeds, dazzling, how to choose? From the Internet to check the information, it is impossible to see that all chickens are excellent breeds (there is no one that is not excellent)!
In 2013, after an inspection, several target breeds were piloted, with a focus on the five black chickens. The five black chickens have distinct characteristics, the eggs taste good, and the soup is also very delicious. After 6 months, egg laying began, and the egg laying rate was also satisfactory, but this chicken always liked to hold the nest and hatch the chicks, especially in the summer, often received complaints from friends that the eggs were broken.
Pure grass farm ecological breeding of guifei chicken (2 months old)
In 2014, several new breeds were added, including Guifei, who at first just thought the chicken was good-looking and did not pay too much attention. It wasn't until after the egg laying that it surprised all of us, and the first time a member called was not because of a complaint, but feedback: that "white egg" was delicious! So many members later asked: we just want "white eggs". Since then, we have decided to breed noble concubine chickens.
The confusion brought by the noble concubine
There are gains and losses. Because of the popularity of eggs, we chose guifei chickens, but in-depth analysis of the breeding records found two difficult problems:
First, the start of production is late. Breeding other breeds, some chickens start production in 4 and a half months, while guifei takes 7 months. Waiting is a painful thing, especially when waiting for eggs to be shipped. I remember in October 2015, just over 6 months old, about to start production, I saw the chicken master to ask: Did the chicken lay eggs? More than a dozen times a day, the master avoided me.
Second, the egg laying rate is low. In the winter of 2016, into the number nine weather, the egg production rate is only 8%, what concept, 100 chickens, only 8 eggs a day, more than 2,000 chickens, only more than 100 eggs a day, while other farms, the same size, layer chicken breeds can produce more than 1,000 eggs a day.
Winter temperatures are low, and the egg production rate of free-range guifei chickens is very low
Some say it's genetically determined. Noble concubine chicken, other places are raised as rare birds, only for ornamentation, but you have to give birth to eggs, how is it possible?
What is even more tangled is that people often question: why are your eggs so expensive! 3 more eggs on the market than one pound, but you have 3 more than one?
It is useless to talk more, only to do practical work. I have visited many farms and consulted many experts to understand a truth: chickens and people are actually the same, only if the mood is good, everything else will be good. This needs to provide them with a comfortable environment, the chicken coop should be clean, the air should be fresh, the winter can not be too cold, the summer can not be too hot, for this reason, the chicken coop has undergone 3 generations of improvement, built a "greenhouse + cold shed + haven" layout, the temperature can be controlled at 15 ~ 25 ° C all year round, supporting the construction of orchards, green grass, sand baths, so that the egg production rate has reached the ideal level.
The ecological breeding environment of pure grass farms
Vanilla to feed chickens for an attempt
There was once a report that some people in France fed geese with vanilla, and the quality of foie gras was greatly improved and it was very popular. What happens if the chickens are fed with vanilla?
In the spring of 2015, more than 7,000 lavender and rosemary plants were purchased from Xinjiang and carefully cared for, and by the time of the june flowering period, the entire farm was perfumed. However, after the rainy season in July, the vanilla under the scorching sun begins to wilt in large areas, and after the winter, by the following spring, the vanilla has been left.
Later, it was concluded that the soil of the farm was alkaline and the terrain was low-lying, which was indeed not suitable for lavender, which was acid-loving and waterlogging-afraid plants. In the entanglement, looking up a lot of information, found that mugwort and mint can also be used as additives, there is a feeling of looking back, because there are wild mint and mugwort leaves in the open space of the farm, and they certainly do not have the problem of environmental adaptation.
As soon as the wormwood sprouted, the nobles couldn't wait to come and steal it
Vanilla as an additive, a reasonable proportion, can improve the quality of eggs, chicken, as well as some antibacterial, improve immunity effect. In order to maximize the food diversity of the guifei chicken, in addition to mugwort leaves and mint, the generals also feed various vegetables, fruits, wild vegetables (purslane, etc.), mulberry leaves, etc. from the farm at a rate of 15% per day.
Children's favorite food is white boiled eggs, and whenever the eggs are peeled and the faint fragrance is smelled, there is always a small sense of accomplishment.
