Daren Hall was founded in 1912 and has a history of 100 years. The founder, Le Daren, whose ancestors have operated the old pharmacy of Beijing Lejia for several generations, has a history of more than 300 years of practicing medicine and selling drugs. Le Daren studied in the United Kingdom in his early years, inspired by the operation and management of Western industrial and commercial enterprises, ambitious, and his four brothers jointly raised 40,000 taels of silver, hired Ruan Xiaokang and Sun Huating, who were proficient in pharmacopoeia and management, to first establish The Darentang Pharmacy in Shanghai, but moved to Tianjin in 1914 due to poor business. Since its inception, it has a unique style of its own production and operation, which is indeed a self-selected authentic medicinal material, inheriting more than 300 years of "family heirloom" methods and business traditions, and making a variety of proprietary medicines. And determined to seek innovation, abandoning the feudal business mode of integrating one shop and one store, and establishing a modern industrial and commercial joint enterprise that combines production and marketing.

In 1916, Le Daren bought the garden of the great bureaucrat Tang Shaoyi on Dajing Road (now Zhongshan Road) and established a general factory. Later, a garden-style courtyard house on the south side of the east end of Zewei Road was purchased as a dormitory for dependents, which was later converted into a pharmaceutical factory, and a new building was built at the east entrance of Riwei Road on Dajing Road as the office building of Darentang Pharmaceutical Factory. Since 1917, Darentang has successively opened a Semicolon of Darentang in 18 important commercial ports across the country, such as Beijing, Qingdao, Fuzhou, Changsha, Xi'an, Changchun, Dalian, Zhengzhou, Kaifeng, Hong Kong, etc., and the general number has sent people to manage it uniformly and sell more than 1,000 kinds of drugs. Special attention is paid to the distribution of precious Chinese medicines such as beef yolk, musk, rhino horn, antelope, ginseng and deer antler velvet. In order to purchase ginseng, special funds were allocated to establish the "Daren Ginseng Number", and the insiders were hired to operate Jilin Laoshan ginseng. In order to monopolize the market, it has set up its own deer park with huge funds, 700 deer of fine seeds in Kanto, and opened a beekeeping factory to collect high-quality honey, produce and sell itself, and win the praise of the national traditional Chinese medicine industry. The traditional Chinese medicine distribution center of Qizhou (now Anguo City, Hebei Province), every spring and autumn temple fair, if there is no personnel from Darentang, deer antler velvet and ginseng two valuable Chinese medicine can not be opened. Due to the pioneering operation and proficiency of Management of Le Da Ren, the business developed rapidly and made great profits, which was second to none in the domestic Chinese medicine industry at that time. By 1935, assets had soared 20-fold to as much as $1 million. After the death of the elderly Le Daren in 1934, Le Zhaoji was appointed as the manager and Le Songsheng was appointed as the deputy manager.

When Darentang was first built, the production equipment was extremely rudimentary and basically manual. The workers once made up a slip of the tongue: "Stone grinding, iron milling, large copper pot, back pulling and carrying smashing and rubbing." Le Zhaoji has traveled to Europe and the United States, and after taking over as manager, he pioneered the trend of Chinese medicine and introduced Western science and technology. In the equipment, installation, electricity, water and other aspects of a series of reforms, retaining the traditional advantages, the use of new methods, quality and process are superior, reputation is outstanding.

The traditional characteristics of Darentang Pharmaceutical are mainly to select authentic materials, only seek the authenticity of medicinal materials, and do not hesitate to spend heavy money, valuable medicinal materials such as ginseng, deer antler velvet, musk, rhino horn, beef yolk, tiger bone, etc., especially cautious. When purchasing and purchasing goods, open the packages one by one to check, so as to ensure the quality. The formula is concocted according to the family heirloom secret method, and it must be refined, not the appearance decoration. The medicinal materials enter the store to select again, remove impurities, and net the feeding. The herbs are crushed, finely ground, and finely screened to ensure accurate dosage. Strictly follow the traditional craftsmanship, never too complicated and simple. For example, the production of a special tonic for the treatment of women's diseases, black chicken white phoenix pills, the traditional method to clean the hair claws, layered in the copper jar, steamed in boiling water for four days and nights, so that the bones and flesh are rotten, the medicinal taste is mellow. The medicinal liquor should be stored for five years, and the plaster should be soaked for one year before the ointment is hot. The traditional processing technology is divided into two factions, the north and the south, Darendo originally belonged to the north school, but absorbed the fine traditions of the southern school, and integrated the north and south preparation techniques in one shop. Le Zhaoji introduced Western science and technology, such as the installation of refrigeration equipment, the use of electric stone grinding, electric sieve, self-drilling deep wells to build water towers, improve the quality of pharmaceutical water, etc., so that the processing technology is more perfect. Therefore, the production of pills, powder, paste, Dan, cream, medicinal liquor and other effective effects are remarkable, not only sell well in China, but also exported to Nanyang. Some famous doctors prescribe drugs to designate patients to buy Tarentang's drugs. Famous traditional products are: black chicken white phoenix pills, Angong beef yellow pills, beef yellow Qingxin pills, Suhe pills, reconstructed pills, tiger bone wine, shenguo ruyi dog skin cream, etc., all of which are prestigious, and a large number of exports in the 30s are in short supply.

Before the founding of New China, Darentang adopted the method of combining feudalism and capitalism in operation and management, insisting on self-control from the East and doing everything himself. Apprentices enter the factory to establish a policy and have a set of strict management regulations. The manager "follows the law", and the east resigns without saying the reason. There are clear subdivisions of workers in production, the workers are responsible for their duties, and the main processes such as coarse and fine material feeding and checking are personally reviewed and inspected by the person in charge of proficient in the production of traditional Chinese medicine. Valuable materials must also be verified by the manager himself to verify each item before mixing the milling powder. Each box of medicines has the mark of the production staff, and the quality problem can be directly investigated. "Quality first, reputation first" is the consistent purpose of Darentang's production and operation.

After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan, most of the branches of Darentang fell one after another, and its business was also affected. After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, under the circumstances of inflation and harsh taxes, production also deteriorated, and by the eve of the founding of New China, the annual production output value reached only 150,000 yuan. After the founding of New China, the desperate Daren Hall was reborn. In June 1955, Darentang realized the public-private partnership, became the people's pharmaceutical factory, embarked on the socialist road, completely changed the management system and method of the old Darentang, and gradually established a new management system such as production process regulations, product inspection system, post responsibility system and so on. By 1956, the annual output value increased to more than 800,000 yuan, four times higher than the eve of the founding of New China, but still maintained the fine tradition of the past. In 1957, drawing on the advanced experience of the domestic traditional Chinese medicine industry, the process reform was implemented, and the wax pill packaging was changed to wax tube packaging, which not only reduced the cost, but also increased the output, and more adapted to the requirements of large-scale production.

During the "Cultural Revolution", Daren Hall was also disturbed and destroyed, old plaques were smashed, excellent traditional products and crafts were abandoned, normal production order was disrupted, the simple pursuit of doubling the quantity did not guarantee quality, reputation declined, and it was a mess for a while.

After the Party Central Committee smashed the "Gang of Four" in 1976, Daren Tang regained its youth. On May 1, 1981, it restored the old brand and restored the traditional business purpose of "quality first, reputation first". After rectification, production is on the right track. In 1980, the state invested 640,000 yuan to implement anti-bacterial and sterilization transformation of the original pill workshop, realize air purification and temperature and humidity regulation, and enter the workshop to give people a bright and clean feeling. In order to further improve the quality of drugs, departments such as quality inspection departments and pharmaceutical research laboratories have been established. Since 1979, we have created many high-quality products and new products. Among them, The Bovine Yellow Antihypertensive Pill won the Gold Award, the Angong Niuhuang Pill won the Silver Award, the Niuhuang Qingxin Pill and the Blood Lipid Ning were rated as ministerial quality products, the Black Chicken White Phoenix Pill won the Municipal Excellent Product, and the Qinggong Shou Peach Pill with unique anti-aging effect won the first prize of the Municipal Excellent New Product. In 1984, only 5 fist products created an output value of 1.9 million yuan, accounting for one-half of the total output value. For some products that the people need but lose money in production, especially some pediatric drugs, they actively arrange production to ensure the needs of the market. After several years of rectification and adjustment, production has increased year by year, and economic benefits have increased significantly, and by 1987, the per capita profit and tax reached 21,300 yuan, ranking first in the national industry. In 1988, it was promoted to a national second-level enterprise and won the ministerial quality award. In 1991, it was promoted to a national first-class enterprise.

Darentang produces 188 varieties of large and small honey pills, and the products are sold throughout the country. And there are 17 varieties of export, sold to Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and China, Hong Kong and Macao and other more than a dozen countries and regions. Darentang, an ancient pharmaceutical factory, is full of vitality and youth, and is moving forward vigorously and vigorously.
