Northern Han and Wei peoples, Wuhuan

author:Qui Timber Wolf Jg

When playing the Romance of the Three Kingdoms game, there is a tribe in the north of the map called Karasuma, which is actually Wuhuan. The Wuhuan were originally a branch of the Eastern Hu tribal confederation. Originally, he and Xianbei were one of the Donghu tribes. In the late Warring States period, after the Xiongnu broke through the Eastern Hu, they moved to Wuhuan Mountain, and then took the name of the mountain as the clan name. By the end of the Western Han Dynasty, Wuhuan had moved south to the ten counties of Liaodong, Yuyang and Shuofang in Sena. When Wang Mang was in power, he ordered Wuhuan not to pay the pibu tax to the Xiongnu, and the Xiongnu led troops to harass and plunder the people and animals of Wuhuan. Wang Mang also drove Wu Huan to attack the Xiongnu, but he took Wu Huan's wife as a hostage and killed Li Wei, which made Wu Huan dissatisfied, rebelled, rebelled against the Han Dynasty, and surrendered to the Xiongnu. Later, Wang Mang's regime was overthrown by Liu Xiu and the Eastern Han Dynasty was established, during which Time Wuhuan often joined forces with the Xiongnu to invade the various places east of Dai County, and gradually developed and grew after two southward migrations, but under the jurisdiction of the Han Dynasty's Wuhuan Lieutenant, it was divided into several tribes, and a unified tribal alliance was never formed. The imperial court also used them to form a quarantine zone with the Huns, to defend against the occasional invasion of the Huns, or to gather intelligence about the Huns.

After emperor An of Han, the Han Dynasty did not cultivate internal affairs, political decay, and officials were corrupt. The trend of corruption in the central part of the imperial court quickly spread to all parts of the country, especially in the border areas, and the corruption was more serious, the officials on the frontier were more cruel to the people and the Qianghu and Wuhuan peoples, and the deeply oppressed Wuhuan people gradually began to resist on their own. The ability of officials on the frontier also gradually declined, and they gradually lost the ability to manage and rule over foreign tribes. Wu Huan was sometimes obedient and sometimes rebellious. By the time emperor Ling of Han ascended the throne, Wu Huan's power was enough to threaten the security of the counties on the frontier of the Han Dynasty.

At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, after the Battle of Guandu, Cao Cao defeated Yuan Shao, Yuan Shao fell ill and died, and his sons Yuan Shang and Yuan Xi defected to Wuhuan in an attempt to make a comeback. Cao Cao, in order to cut off the troubles of Yuan's recovery, conquered Wuhuan. Cao Cao took Tian Yu's advice and went out of the remote trail to attack him. Falsely claiming to be a teacher, Wu Huan relaxed his guard, rode lightly out of Lulongsai (in the area of present-day Xifengkou, Hebei), and sped hundreds of miles through the lofty mountains. At the White Wolf Mountain, when the number of Wuhuan troops was large, Cao Cao's army had not yet reached the front line, and the soldiers of Cao Cao's army felt dangerous. At this time, Zhang Liao stood up, thinking that he could not miss the opportunity, should not wait any longer, and took advantage of the fact that Wu Huan's foothold was unstable and caught him off guard. Cao Cao accepted and put Zhang Liao in charge of command. Zhang Liao led an army to make a surprise attack, destroyed the Wuhuan army, and killed Wuhuan Shan Yutun, who was known as "Xiao Wu". Many people died before the battle, and more than 200,000 people fell. Wu Huan was seriously injured this time and went into decline.

The national characteristics of Wuhuan are "noble, young and old". Nomadic people, in order to survive, the Wuhuan people have a very strong fighting ability, and the cavalry is even more brave and good at fighting. Twenty-three years after Jian'an, Wuhuan rebelled with Xianbei and was defeated by Cao Zhang and Tian Yu, and his strength was once again seriously weakened. Later, the Wuhuan people outside the Guanwai were annexed by the Xianbei and fused by the Xianbei. Wuhuan, which moved south, was Sinicized. Did not persist until the demise of the Western Jin Dynasty, the golden age of the ethnic minorities in the north. The name Wuhuan also gradually disappeared from history.

The Wuhuan nation has also left a mark in history because of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The impression is similar to that of the Xiongnu, but it is not as influential as the Xiongnu, not as long as the Xiongnu era, because the geographical location is between the powerful ethnic minorities in the north and the han Dynasty ruled area, so survival is much more difficult, and with the growth of other nomadic peoples, he also slowly disappeared into the river of history.
