Nanjing, July 26 (Xinhua) -- China's "piano boy" Chen Qitian has been hired as the initiator and image ambassador of the "One Egg Project" cultural support activity of "Cheering for the Olympic Games". On 26 July, IOC Vice President Yu Zaiqing issued a letter of appointment to Chen Qitian on behalf of the IOC in Nanjing.

In his letter of appointment on behalf of the International Olympic Committee, Yu Zaiqing said that the plan aims to ensure that schoolchildren in poor areas can get the nutrition of an egg every day, so it is fully in line with the Olympic spirit advocated by the committee: to create a better way of life by combining sports with culture, education and international cooperation.

According to Wu Aihua, the person in charge of the "Cheer for the Olympics" project, the "One Egg Project" is a newly added project of the "Cheer for the Olympics" cultural support activities, mainly to help students in poor areas to enhance nutrition and better learn cultural knowledge. The project will be implemented from August.

Chen Qitian, 17 years old this year, is now a student of Hodgkes School in the United States, and has won the grand prize of the Boya Cup National Piano Competition, the best music award of the Spanish Herero International Piano Competition, the third prize of the Spanish Herero International Piano Competition, the first prize of the Stanway Youth Piano Competition, the first prize of the Italian Imola Piano Competition, the grand prize of the China Good Voice National Piano Competition, the gold medal of the Shanghai International Youth Piano Competition, and the gold medal of the Singapore International Piano Competition.

He is also a "sports guru" with outstanding performances in long-distance running, fencing, tennis, karate and other sports. He has won the second place in the Track and Field Captain Run of The Indian Hill School, the Best Progress Award of the Indian Hill School Tennis Team, the second place in the Kueriland School Track and Field Team, the first place in the Children's Group of the Chinese Fencing Club League, and the first place in the Nanjing Karate Competition.

During this year's Spring Festival, he was invited to participate in the IOC's "China Harmony" New Year series of activities held in Lausanne, Switzerland, and played the world's famous piano song - Liszt's "Hungarian Rhapsody No. 6", which was widely acclaimed. IOC President Bach sent a special letter to Chen Qitian to express his gratitude for his wonderful performance.

Chen Qitian is enthusiastic about charity activities and often participates in public welfare performances in recent years. At the award ceremony of the Boya Cup Piano Competition last year, he took the initiative to donate the winning piano and 50,000 yuan to the primary school in Daliangshan District, and announced that he would use the holiday to volunteer to teach. After the outbreak of the epidemic in Wuhan, Chen Qitian, who was participating in the IOC's New Year series of activities in Switzerland, purchased a large number of masks locally and sent them to Wuhan and other serious epidemic areas for the first time.

The Olympic City Series is a cultural and sports project authorized and hosted by the International Olympic Committee. This year, the organizing committee of the project launched the "Cheers for the Olympics" Constant Love Action - Trip to the United States, in the form of public welfare, facing the whole country, so that a wider range of young people have the opportunity to participate in it, so that the majority of young people can walk with the Olympic Games with practical actions.
