Wang Bicheng at work.
A neatly stacked "wooden wall".
It only takes ten minutes for Butuo County to go out of the city and go west, and you can see a factory building with a large area, a simple wooden plaque on it, and three big characters written in hot gold: Yi Zhiyuan. The wide grounds of the factory are piled with wood, forming a series of "wooden walls" and passages, and after walking west for a while in this labyrinthine passageway, there is a simple wooden house, and Qumuala sits in the house, carving a relief engraving in his hand.
Qu Muala was a burly Yi man who looked as strong as an athlete, and his palms were also very wide, and the carving knife was held in his hand, as if it were a small plaything. But his hand is as dexterous as a weaver girl, the carving knife moves with the heart, changes with the shape, one point, one stroke and one file, the wood chips are scattered, and the appearance of a Yi hero bending a bow and shooting arrows on the wooden board floats up, vivid.
Qumuala's Han chinese name is Wang Bicheng, which he himself explains means "dreams must be fulfilled."
He has a dream in his heart - to carry the Yi culture with wooden boards, to turn culture into works of art, to turn works of art into commodities, and then to turn commodities into media platforms for disseminating excellent national culture.
A dream seed: growing up with wooden scrolls
Wang Bicheng is a native of Butuo, who grew up playing in his uncle's furniture factory. In my childhood, I was surrounded by wood as tall as a mountain and emitting the smell of pine; all I saw in my eyes was the teachers carving knives with saws, turning decay into magic, turning huge wood into exquisite furniture.
Wang Bicheng felt that this was particularly cool and magical. Therefore, the greatest pleasure of childhood is not to shoot "foreign paintings", play marbles, and play with family with playmates of the same age. Instead, he squatted on the ground and watched the carpenters working, carefully observing the changes in the wood.
After elementary school, he began to pick up a saw and a carving knife, and while groping, he asked the master carpenter for advice and learned the art of carpentry.
Perhaps it is the years of hearing that have made him talented, from the production of knives, guns and sticks to the carving of human figures, flowers and birds, he can always be unexpectedly solid in shape and realistic in image. And perhaps he did not bear the pressure of life, did not go through the social wind and frost, but also faded a little bit of step-by-step craftsmanship, more of a free spirit, made things more ideas than the teachers, more vivid and interesting.
As time passed, Wang Bicheng's skills became better and better, and in addition to wood and carving knives, he had one more hobby, the traditional culture and traditional art of the Yi people.
He loved it and felt sorry for it. I thought in my heart: "In the Yi classics, there are excellent cultures and wonderful stories, but they can only be passed on by word of mouth within the nation. Is there any way to spread them? ”
With doubts, he constantly thought and fantasized: if the traditional culture is combined with woodcut sculpture and woodcut prints, with wood as the carrier, into the Yi culture to create works of art that people like to see, so that culture can be inherited and carried forward, how good it would be.
But when he grew up, with the pressure of life, he had to temporarily give up his ideas, go south with his hometown friends, and start a migrant life in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province.
Leaving early and returning late, hard work, did not make him give up his dream. After the age of 30, Wang Bicheng and his friends opened a factory to broaden his horizons and ideas. Whenever he looked at Cao Youxiang's paper cuts, Xu Anbi's pottery, and Li Lianshun's face on the TV set, the little seed of psychology impulsively and struggled to break out of the bud.
This sentiment grew stronger and stronger, and he felt that his life should not be just "life". He believes that he should become a part of the inheritance of the Yi national culture.
"That should be my mission."
In 2014, Wang Bicheng was 32 years old. When the development of the factory was booming, it resolutely left.
Bidding farewell to Shenzhen, where he had worked hard for many years, he returned to his hometown Butuo with his bags, and picked up books and carving knives again, as well as dreams.
Struggle to promote the release of flower buds: walking on the road of practicing the integration of cultural industries
After returning to his hometown, Wang Bicheng, with the support of relevant departments, prepared to establish the Butuo County Yi Society, specializing in the research and inheritance of Yi culture, accumulating profound cultural soft power, and exploring the development path of complementary industry and culture.
In 2015, Butuo County launched a traffic conference war, building a widened highway, and the trees on both sides of the road were auctioned off publicly. Wang Bicheng took out all his savings, bought all the wood, and opened a factory, Yi Zhiyuan, specializing in wood processing.
"The art industry must first have income before it can gain a foothold and develop." Wang Bicheng said that when the wood is transported to the construction site, the customer needs what the factory produces, from the decoration of the wood carved beams of the house to the furniture and wooden cabinets and chairs; from the processing of wooden lacquerware of the Yi people to the production of small decorative crafts.
After several years of development, Wang Bicheng's wood processing factory, with its authentic materials and reliable craftsmanship, is well-known inside and outside the county. Newlywed men and women set up a complete set of custom furniture here, some farmers build new houses, and they also travel long distances to find Wang Bicheng to make custom decorations.
"We consume about 3,000 cubic meters of wood a year, and the annual output value can reach 8 million yuan." Wang Bicheng said that in order to support a factory, the purpose of the factory to "survive" is the Yi art and crafts.
At the same time as the development of the factory, he spent a lot of money to introduce the most advanced machinery, hired the best wood carving craftsmen from outside the province, and created a large number of reliefs, root carvings, and printmaking intangible cultural heritage products. A large number of Yi myths and legends, Kezhi and Mamu Teyi, which persuade people to be good and filial piety, have been integrated into the works, so that many Yi cultures have a new bearing in addition to the Yi records.
"With the purpose of protection, inheritance and development, we have integrated all aspects of resources to develop unique new products." Wang Bicheng said that the "Yi relief prints" make a series of engravings of ancient folk stories, myths and legends. With text descriptions, it can more vividly express the cultural connotation of the product and publicize the cultural heritage of the cloth to the outside world.
At this stage, his factory lost seven or eight hundred thousand yuan a year, and some people advised Wang Bicheng, "Honestly engage in industrial commodities to make money, you have to do these money-losing transactions." ”
But Wang Bicheng believes that doing culture is also making goods - when art commodities are really bigger and stronger one day, and every household knows that they need to buy, the excellent traditional culture of the Yi people will really be carried forward, and they can also make money.
Adhering to the idea of integrating culture and product development, Wang Bicheng and his team have developed more than 30 kinds of Yi cultural goods in four years, and in 2020, they will turn losses into profits.
In the Yizhiyuan Cultural Industry Support Workshop in Butuo County, various products are displayed and placed, including heavy wood panel relief painted prints, vivid and vivid root carved eagles, and small decorative utensils, rich in color, dazzling, and praised by people who come to visit.
During the period of poverty alleviation in Butuo County, Wang Bicheng integrated all aspects of cultural and tourism resources, promoted the development of national cultural industries, strengthened the skills training of migrant workers, helped the poor people in the county to solve employment, and played a demonstration effect and guiding role through the Yizhiyuan Cultural Industry Poverty Alleviation Workshop, and promoted and promoted the Butuo cultural brand to the outside world. Construct skills training workshops for migrant workers, processing and packaging workshops for agricultural products and local specialties, production workshops for Yi building materials, production workshops for tourism handicrafts, and live broadcast rooms for e-commerce. In order to solve the problem of employment difficulties for people in the Isa community, Yi Zhiyuan has organized several batches of carpentry skills training, including the production of furniture, Yi lacquerware, and intangible handicrafts. The number of people has reached more than 500, more than 100 people have been employed in the Isaac community, and nearly 200 people have gone to work in foreign furniture factories after completing their technical studies, which has added a lot of income to poor families.
"At present, it is planned to build the factory into a cultural industry park rich in Adu characteristics, concentrate all forms of Yi culture in Butuo County, form a cultural corridor, and then change culture into commodities, make solid products, introduce e-commerce, and make a brand..." Wang Bicheng said, riding on the east wind of cultural and tourism integration, combined with rural revitalization, it is bound to promote the integration and development of Yi culture and industry again.
It is reported that yizhiyuan cultural industrial park plans to set up migrant workers carpentry skills training workshop, Yi cultural theme homestay, catering, non-genetic inheritance workshop, Yizhiyuan agricultural products, local specialties processing and packaging workshop, Yizhiyuan wine workshop, Yi ethnic building materials production workshop, tourism souvenirs, handicraft production workshop, e-commerce live broadcast room, planning to generate income in the next year to reach 20 million to 30 million yuan.
