In Li Lei's view, at this stage, all parties can respond to the carbon emission challenge from three aspects, namely the three Rs:
Reduce. That is, to reasonably reduce investment in overcapacity industries and improve the efficiency of energy utilization;
Reuse. That is, the reasonable reuse of unqualified products, the current regulations focus on qualified products, but the cooperative reuse of unqualified products also needs to get some attention.
Recycle. SABIC has previously joined the global Alliance to End Plastic Waste (AEPW) to actively try to reduce the environmental impact of plastic waste by promoting a circular economy. From a corporate perspective, we want to contribute to society in terms of technology.
"Every responsible party throughout the industry chain should do their best to meet the carbon emission challenge." Enterprises and people are the same, to do a thing must have the initiative. In addition, government legislation is also a key driver, and the combination of the two can truly reduce carbon emissions," Li Lei said.
At present, SABIC is also adhering to three "carbon reduction logics" to expand innovation-driven carbon reduction initiatives: First, covering and empowering core areas. Second, invest in cutting-edge technology research and development. The third is to make the circular economy circular.
