Among these "old friends" who overwinter, the "star species" bald crane is happy. On October 20 this year, staff at the Dongtan Bird National Nature Reserve in Chongming, Shanghai, observed for the first time a family group of bald cranes consisting of two adult birds and one juvenile. Through high-definition surveillance probes, workers saw traces of their movements on the tidal flats.

Experts say that in the next ten days, as the temperature drops further, more bald cranes will arrive at Chongming Dongtan. Researchers in the reserve will also continue to pay close attention to the situation of the crane flock to ensure that the bald crane population overwinters safely in the East Beach.
Following the "family of three" of bald cranes, on the 21st, the staff found the cygnets that arrived for the first time this year in the reserve for wintering, and took clear photos.
With the in-depth development of ecological restoration in Dongtan Nature Reserve, the ecological environment in the ecological restoration area of the reserve is improving day by day, attracting a large number of water birds to return and inhabit.
