This is the second consecutive year since 2020 that Chen Dezhi has found the painted ibis in the same area.
The painted ibis is a national first-class protected animal, and its feathers will become colorful with the change of light angle. Painted ibises are close relatives of the national treasure bird crested ibis, the number in the country is rarer than the crested ibis, China's endangered animal Red Book once declared that the painted ibis is extinct in China, in recent years only found in a few places in the country, known as the "giant panda among birds".
In 2020, the colored ibises appeared for the first time in Sinopec Jianghan Oilfield Ecological Agriculture Company, and Chen Dezhi observed 3 adult birds and 4 young birds, including a family composed of 1 male adult bird and 4 young birds. From these indications, it is speculated that the shrimp and rice base of the ecological agriculture company and the surrounding area may be the breeding point of the colored ibis.
