Chengdu, 26 Oct (China News Service) -- The "High-level Roundtable meeting between the National Development and Reform Commission and U.S. multinational enterprises in China - Sichuan Station", jointly organized by the Department of International Cooperation of the National Development and Reform Commission of china and the Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission, was held in Chengdu on 26 October.

Ning Jizhe, deputy director of China's National Development and Reform Commission, said that as the connection point of the "Belt and Road" and the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the starting point of the new land and sea corridor in the west, the strategic position of Sichuan and Chongqing in China's opening up pattern has become increasingly prominent, and it is becoming the forefront of inland opening up. From January to August this year, Sichuan's import and export volume of trade in goods with the United States reached 132.39 billion yuan, an increase of 25.4% year-on-year, accounting for 23% of the province's total import and export of goods trade. Chongqing's import and export volume of trade in goods with the United States reached 75.2 billion yuan, an increase of 21% year-on-year, accounting for nearly 15% of the city's total import and export of goods trade. The Sichuan-Chongqing region connects the east and the west, connects the north and the south, has a consumer market with great potential, deep and solid factor support, an open space for docking the world, and a policy dividend of superimposed landing, and the development trend is good and the prospects are promising.

61 representatives from 49 U.S. companies and chambers of commerce in China, including Chevron Co., Ltd., Intel Corporation, Qualcomm Corporation, and Marriott International Group, attended the roundtable. According to statistics, last year,the global trade in goods fell by 5.6% year-on-year, but Sino-US trade in goods rose against the trend, achieving an increase of 8.8%, ranking first among China's five major trading partners. In the first three quarters of this year, the total value of Sino-US trade was 3.52 trillion yuan, an increase of 24.9% year-on-year. As of now, there are more than 70,000 U.S. companies in China, of which two-thirds plan to increase investment in China.

At the meeting, the heads of the relevant departments and bureaus of China's National Development and Reform Commission respectively interpreted the construction of the Twin Cities Economic Circle in the Chengdu-Chongqing Region, the Comprehensive Transportation Development Plan of the Twin Cities Economic Circle, and sino-US economic cooperation. The responsible persons of the Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission and the Chongqing Municipal Development and Reform Commission introduced the construction of the Twin Cities Economic Circle in the Chengdu-Chongqing Region, and the responsible persons of the Chengdu Municipal People's Government introduced the business environment, industrial function zones and policies of Chengdu.
