"There are still two days to go before Martyrs' Day and three days to national day... For the martyrs who fell before the dawn, but also for those of us who are fortunate to be born in the new era, we are gathered at this moment, both for remembrance and inheritance. This afternoon, under the guidance of the Municipal Veterans Affairs Bureau, the Municipal Foundation for Supporting the Military and the Longhua Martyrs Cemetery (Longhua Martyrs Memorial Hall) jointly held the "Youth Longhua" memorial activity at the Longhua Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Site. At the scene of the memorial service, a "post-90s" youth expressed the contemporary young people's remembrance of the struggle and sacrifice of the revolutionary martyrs and their firm belief in not forgetting their original intentions and continuing to struggle.
Located in the northeast of the Longhua Martyrs' Cemetery, the Longhua Revolutionary Martyrs' Righteous Place was one of the execution sites of the former Military Justice Department of the Songhu Police Headquarters of the Kuomintang, and it was also the execution ground where the "Twenty-four Martyrs of Longhua" were shot that year. From 1927 to 1937, the Kuomintang authorities imprisoned nearly 10,000 revolutionary volunteers and openly or secretly killed nearly a thousand Communists, including Luo Yinong, Yang Yin, Peng Pan, Zhao Shiyan, Chen Yannian, Chen Qiaonian and a number of other early party leaders, as well as the "Twenty-four Martyrs of Longhua". Today, Chen Yannian and Chen Qiaonian are buried in the martyrs' cemetery area of Longhua Martyrs Cemetery.
At the beginning of this year, the TV series "The Age of Awakening" made countless viewers' blood boil, as if returning to that turbulent era of change and "encountering" with a patriot. In the play, Chen Duxiu reluctantly watched his sons Chen Yannian and Chen Qiaonian go abroad, and the spirited youth before going abroad contrasted sharply with the sacrificial picture of the two people wearing shackles and blurred flesh and blood in prison, which made many viewers cry.
These two young revolutionaries, who were less than 30 years old, died in Longhua, Shanghai, within a year. In the face of death, the voices of the two young communists who remained in Longhua Heaven and Earth are still deafening: In the face of a group of executioners holding aloft butcher knives and viciously ordering him to kneel, Chen Yannian held his head high and said loudly: "Revolutionaries can only stand and die, and will never kneel"; Chen Qiaonian, who was tortured in prison, said when bidding farewell to his victims: "Let our descendants enjoy the happiness of our predecessors who cut through thorns and thorns!" ”
"I look up at the starry sky you have seen, and meet again through a hundred years of time and space... Because of a TV series, I met such a group of young people, and their perseverance, bravery, and fearless sacrifice deeply shocked me. At the scene of the memorial service, another "post-90s" also shared his feelings. "TV dramas don't represent history." The "post-90s" said that after watching the TV series, he began to look for books and materials about the revolutionary martyrs, "through understanding them, I have strengthened my determination to join the party as soon as possible, and I want to follow in their footsteps and be a person who contributes to society."
It is understood that in order to commemorate the martyrs and praise the martyrs, since the beginning of this year, the Longhua Martyrs Cemetery has successively created a large-scale red youth documentary "Youth Longhua" and a large-scale original red drama "Outpost". Among them, "Youth Longhua" is divided into three episodes: "The Awakening of Youth", "The Wave of Ideals" and "The Watch of Faith", which tells the youth story of Long Hua's heroic martyrs who threw himself into the revolution, showing the lofty revolutionary feelings of revolutionary martyrs and the revolutionary genes of youth; "Outpost" takes "Five Martyrs of the Left League" as the protagonist, focusing on the martyr group composed of five young left-wing writers in the history of modern Chinese literature. Today, the main creative team of "Youth Longhua" and "Outpost" also came to the scene of the memorial activity to commemorate the heroic martyrs with the families of the martyrs, party history experts, the most beautiful retired soldiers, and representatives of young students, send their condolences, and share their creative experiences.
At the end of the ceremony, all the participants also bowed to the revolutionary martyrs, laid flowers, and sent their condolences.
