It is understood that the red-necked plover, the genus Plover of the family Finches, commonly known as the red-necked plover, has a body length of about 25 cm. It is found in Eurasia and northern Africa, and generally inhabits the open coniferous forests that breed in Siberia. This species of bird is only found in a small number in northeast China, and is the first to be found in the Huzhong National Nature Reserve.

Heilongjiang Huzhong National Nature Reserve belongs to the cold temperate coniferous forest ecosystem nature reserve, which is rich in resources and has significant characteristics of cold temperate biodiversity. The area has typical characteristics of cold temperate birds in the Palearctic region, and its bird composition can be used as a representative of the northern bird fauna. Due to the long summer sunshine time, high temperature, heavy precipitation and abundant food, there are 146 species of birds inhabiting the reserve, including the Class I protected birds such as black-billed grouse, Oriental White Stork and Golden Eagle; And Class II protected birds include Mandarin ducks, flower-tailed hazel chickens, snowy owls, sparrowhawks and other 22 species.
