【Oblique banded grouper】 is one of many groupers, medium-sized, up to 120cm in maximum, weighing up to 30 pounds. It is found in the Red Sea, as far south as Durban (South Africa) and as far east as the Palau Islands and fiji islands, inhabiting continental coasts and large islands, but can also be found in estuaries and waters 100 meters offshore. The meat is delicious, has high economic value, and is currently partially farmed along the southern coast.
Morphological characteristics

The head and body back are yellowish brown and the ventral side is whitish; there are many orange-brown or reddish-brown dots on the head, body, and odd fins that become smaller, more numerous, and darker in color as we age; and there are 5 inconspicuous irregularly inclined deep stripes on the body, which branch out and extend all the way to the ventral side, of which the first dark stripe is under the spines of the dorsal fin in the front and the last one on the caudal stalk; there are two dark dots on the intermarried cap, and 1~ where the intergill cap and the upper gill cap meet 2 dark dots.
Characteristics of life
Oblique banders are carnivorous and ferocious fish that raid benthic crustaceans, a variety of small fish and cephalopods. Groupers mostly inhabit tropical and temperate oceans, preferring to inhabit rocky reefs, gravel and coral reefs near coastal islands, and are generally not in groups. The habitat water layer rises and falls with changes in water temperature. It is distributed at a depth of 10 to 30 meters in spring and summer, and at a depth of 2 to 3 meters in mid-summer; in autumn and winter, when the water temperature drops, it swims to a depth of 40 to 80 meters.
