Zhang Zhengguang (1949-1984), a native of Wuding, Yunnan Province, was born in November 1949, initially Chinese, enlisted in the army in April 1969, deputy political commissar of the 119th Regiment of the 40th Division of the 14th Army. On May 2, 1984, during the self-defense counterattack against Vietnam in the Lao Shan area, he was 35 years old when he led a logistics detachment to transport ammunition for the forward positions when he was shelled by the Vietnamese army. Zhang Zhengguang was the highest-ranking officer to die in the Battle of the Two Mountains.
