Only with different voices will we think more calmly and objectively look at and learn from Mr. Huang Yuanyu's academic thoughts.
If you compare Western medicine, Chinese medicine and Buddhism, Western medicine pays attention to metaphysical organs, Chinese medicine respects metaphysical qi machine, and both Chinese and Western medicine belong to the worldly law and are not separated from the world. Dharma, on the other hand, is the dharma of birth, which is completely at the level of clear and clear vision. So from a hierarchical point of view, whether it is Western medicine or Chinese medicine, medicine actually cannot solve the fundamental problem of life and death, and the only way to liberation is The Dharma.
The beauty of TCM is that it is almost the closest worldly dharma to Dharma. Because Chinese medicine can cure diseases and save people, it is easy to be accepted by the world, and Chinese medicine looks at all things from the perspective of qi machine, and it belongs to the metaphysical level, so after understanding Chinese medicine, it is natural to transition to the realm of Buddhism.
From this point of view, Chinese medicine is like a medium that helps the world to practice, which can guide the world to realize the beauty of the Dharma more naturally. Because of this, Chinese medicine is actually not omnipotent, nor is it the highest state of practice.
Let's make the above questions clear, and then look at Huang Yuanyu's scholarship, we will be more clear. Huang Yuanyu said in the preface to "The Solution to typhoid fever" that he had purified his own mysteries, studied the emptiness, and finally realized the truth of the "Treatise on Typhoid Fever". He did not reason, he realized it with his own body, and he also deliberately pointed out that he realized it in a state of emptiness. This is a very realistic attitude, and if we cannot attain the realm of emptiness, it is impossible to realize this way of heaven and earth.
The characteristics of Chinese medicine, which have some similarities with Buddhism, are the emphasis on self-realization. Because the state of enlightenment is difficult to describe in words, the thousands of Buddhist sutras are actually talking about the same realm from different angles and guiding everyone to practice toward that realm. The same is true of Chinese medicine, Huang Yuanyu has realized the mystery of the flow of qi, but how to express this realm is indeed an easy problem. Huang Yuanyu finally chose the pattern of the four elephants in the Four Sacred Heart Sources to expound this true realm of Chinese medicine, and we usually call this set of Huang Yuanyu's theories as one qi and zhou liu.
After all, there is a difference between theoretical description and real realm, so strictly speaking, everything Huang Yuanyu said is wrong. Lao Tzu said in the Tao Te Ching that if the Tao is not the Tao, what is spoken must not be the Tao. After a lifetime of saying this, he finally said nothing. That's what it means.
Therefore, when we study Mr. Huang Yuanyu's scholarship and read Mr. Huang Yuanyu's book, we must understand that this is only a tool for obtaining the moon by fingering, and that scholarship itself is not the true Tao. The Tao needs to be realized, not hidden in books.
This reminds us that in the study of Huang Yuanyu's scholarship, we should not stick to words and not argue about right and wrong on words. Understand the meaning of what Huang Yuanyu said, and then personally understand, realize, and then look at what Huang Yuanyu said, you know where Huang Yuanyu spoke well, where it can be improved. Therefore, Huang Yuanyu's book is not perfect, it is certainly flawed, and even a few places are really wrong.
However, the work is only a way of expression, and the imperfection of expression does not mean that the way of heaven and earth is also wrong. Compared with the physicians of all generations, Huang Yuanyu's academic works should be the most concise and clear description of the way of Chinese medicine, and learning Chinese medicine from here is the latest way and the most correct direction. The deeper your understanding of the Tao, the more you will feel the preciousness of Huang Yuanyu's academic thought.
