
The movie "Restricted Letters" starring South Korean artist Cho Woo-jin set a record for the highest premiere of Korean films this year on the first day of release, beating a number of Hollywood blockbusters to win the Korean box office championship.
According to the latest box office data released by the Korean Film Promotion Commission, "Restricted Letters" was released 4488 times on 968 screens in South Korea yesterday, winning the single-day box office championship in South Korea with 55,687 viewers. The American movie "Ace Bodyguard 2" was released 3,401 times on 942 screens yesterday, ranking second in the South Korean single-day box office list with 38,774 viewers.
Driven by newly released films such as "Restricted Letters" and "Ace Bodyguard 2", the number of viewers in South Korea yesterday rose sharply from the previous day to 160,118.
