Yan Haibin's ancestral home is Shatou Town, Cangwu County, Wuzhou City, and he was born in Longwei Town in 2003. In 2011, he was recruited into the Cangwu County Youth Amateur Sports School and started his career in athletics. Yan Jiankui, a famous track and field sprinter, is Yan Haibin's aunt.
