Why is water the source of life?

Water is a necessary substance for the human body to maintain basic life activities, and people's need for water is second only to oxygen. Water is the main component of the human body, a person does not eat for a short time, as long as he can drink water, even if he loses 40% of his weight, he will not die. However, if you can't drink water for a few days, the body loses more than 6% of the water, it will feel weak and urinary; 20% of people who lose water will die.

Human body water in different ages accounted for different proportions of body weight, in the neonatal period can account for about 90% of the body weight, with the increase of age, the water in the human body gradually decreases, adult human body water accounts for about 60 to 70% of the body weight, of which 2/3 is distributed in the cell called intracellular fluid, accounting for 40% of the body weight, and 1/3 distributed outside the cell, called extracellular fluid, accounting for 20% of the body weight. Some people estimate that people in their lifetime to drink more than 50 tons of water, the metabolism in the human body, all are carried out in water, water is the body's scavenger, through sweat, urine can be discharged harmful substances out of the body; can regulate the human body's pH and osmotic pressure, and play a role in transportation, so there is no life without water.
