In the just-concluded cop15 phase I meeting, a total of 540 service volunteers in the exhibition area and 3030 city volunteers participated in the service guarantee of the conference. Two or three rounds of written tests, three or four rounds of interviews, running three kilometers a day in the winter vacation to meet physical requirements, summer vacation through video classes... Fang Qiong, a third-year student majoring in administrative management at Yunnan University for Nationalities, cherished this hard-won opportunity.
"We have carefully prepared every time, and when we encountered questions such as 'what is the flower of Kunming City's city', 'what does the Eye of Kunming refer to', 'where was the first biodiversity conference held', and everyone filled in a variety of answers..." After many selections and trainings, Fang Qiong gradually became an excellent volunteer and spoke as a representative at the volunteer induction mobilization ceremony.
Ma Xiaoyue is a student majoring in biological sciences at Southwest Forestry University, and has participated in public welfare services such as after-school counseling at Qingyun Primary School and vaccination volunteer service in Guandu District, and has rich volunteer service experience. Different from previous volunteer services, the recruitment process for COP15 volunteers is more stringent and lasts longer. Volunteers should be articulate, warm and polite, and speak foreign languages to the point of fluency. In order to meet the selection requirements, she constantly practiced her spoken English, improved her physical fitness, and spent a lot of time and energy to train herself.
Unlike Ma Xiaoyue's straightforward selection process, Zheng Tongtong from Yunnan University of Finance and Economics regrettably failed when he participated in the first batch of conference volunteer recruitment. Therefore, when she learned of the recruitment of COP15 city volunteers, she was determined to make more efforts to seize this opportunity. "I have a feeling of being lost and regained, and this feeling is even more cherished." Zheng Tongtong said that as a "small fan" of Kunming, she is proud to make her own modest contribution to Kunming.

Prepare ahead and apply what you have learned
Don't look at the volunteers who are not very old, but they seem very familiar and sophisticated in handling things. Faced with possible problems, they have rehearsed countless times. When serving the relevant personnel attending the meeting, not only can the problem be properly handled, but also the guests who are not familiar with Yunnan can introduce the customs and customs of Yunnan and the cultural tourism cuisine.
"After the selection, we went through a long period of training. In our spare time, the teachers also volunteered to give us various theoretical knowledge related to the conference. Ma Xiaoyue said that everyone sacrificed their spare time to do a good job in serving the conference, but no one ever cried bitterly.
Is what you've learned useful? Ma Xiaoyue said that a lot of knowledge is used. During her work, she not only introduced the best places to visit for tourists who came to consult the surrounding attractions in Kunming, but also flexibly handled unexpected situations and avoided disorder.
At the South Asia Customs Garden site where Zheng Tongtong is located, volunteers are divided into 3 groups, each group of 4 people, taking turns to guard the service station, providing services for passing experts and media reporters, answering their questions. Once, a foreign friend consulted the local specialty food, and the volunteers enthusiastically introduced him to the Yunnan bridge rice noodles, afraid that he would not find the way, and specially sent a person to take him to the store before returning with confidence.
The volunteer site of Yunnan Nationalities Village, where Fang Qiong is located, ushered in the climax of the foreign guest tour after the first phase of the COP15 meeting, and the service time of the 7 volunteers at the site was extended by 3 days. Getting up at 6 o'clock every morning and returning to school after a day's work is 9 p.m., although quite tired and "not enough to sleep", Fang Qiong and her friends are worth every shift with a new mental outlook every day.
Fang Qiong said that although they will also encounter challenges, they show the beautiful style of contemporary college students with a full mental state and sincere service attitude.

This year, Xing Jiali, who was awarded the honorary title of "Good Man of Yunnan", also joined the ranks of COP15 volunteers this time and became a "hotel special class staff".
Xing Jiali service hotel is close to the main venue of Kunming Dianchi International Convention and Exhibition Center. Volunteers entered the hotel from October 4 until the end of the conference, and the whole process was closed and not allowed to leave the hotel. During this period, she experienced a cooling, and because she could not go out, Fortunate Jiali had to let her family send her coat to the hotel.
This is a microcosm of the hard work of the volunteers. Everyone said that participating in this volunteer service not only enriched the after-school life, but also greatly exercised and improved the personal communication and expression ability and improved ability.
