On July 23, at the tunnel entrance of Jingguang North Road, the on-site crane was cleaning up wading vehicles. The Jingguang North Road Tunnel has a total length of 1835 meters and a total of six lanes in both directions, which is the main artery of north-south traffic in Zhengzhou City, and is not far from the Jingguang South Road Tunnel. The Zhengzhou torrential rain, the Beijing-Guangzhou Tunnel is one of the most serious places of water accumulation, more than 200 cars are trapped. According to the on-site drainage rescue staff, the deepest water in the tunnel reached about 13 meters. Since the afternoon of July 21, the pump has been pumping water non-stop at a flow rate of 3,000 square meters per hour.
At 6 p.m. on July 23, the water at the south entrance of the Jingguang North Road Tunnel had been pumped out, revealing the entrance. At the north entrance of the Jingguang North Road tunnel, the pump is still working. There is still water inside the Jingguang South Road tunnel, and the pumping work is still continuing.
At present, the rescue clean-up work is still continuing. According to Li Ping, deputy secretary of the party committee of the Zhengzhou Municipal Urban Management Bureau, there are no trapped vehicles in the visual tunnel.
Escape from the horror
At 2 p.m. on July 23, a black Chevrolet sedan was dragged out of the tunnel, and yellow silt covered the body flowed down the road. Standing on the roadside steps and watching, Yang Tianjiao shouted "my" and rushed away from the crowd of onlookers to chase the trailer.
Yang Tian frame followed his brother to do business in Zhengzhou, and his mother and 9-year-old daughter returned to their hometown in Shangqiu. On the afternoon of July 20, Yang Tian originally planned to go home for a few days to rest, and the snakeskin bag was loaded with shoes that had been cleaned for his daughter, and three bottles of liquor were thrown into the trunk together with three bottles of liquor, ready to be taken back to his hometown.
Before going out, the map navigation recommended two roads, one through the Lianhuo Expressway and one through the Beijing-Guangzhou Tunnel. Yang Tian repeated the navigation three times, choosing the latter, "At that time, looking at this side (road conditions) was all green, I went this way." ”
On the morning of July 20, it began to rain in Zhengzhou. But until Yang Tian entered the tunnel around 5 p.m., there was no water on the side of the road.
As the exit approaches, so does the danger. Yang Tian frame saw that the water was fed back into the tunnel from the exit, and the water splashed up by the front wheel was less than half of the wheel, and the taillights began to shine.
The rainwater recharge tunnel is not surprising to Yang Tian Frame, who often drives. He and an escort truck in the outer lane moved forward side by side, basically in a "boogie" state.
The water came up from the chassis of the car, squeezed into the car from the door crack, Yang Tian framed, try to go forward as much as possible, out of the tunnel mouth is safe, but the car in front of it has not moved.
In just ten minutes, Yang Tian felt the water in the tunnel rise rapidly. The water in the cab quickly passed over his ankles, and Yang Tian gave up the struggle, turned off the ignition, got out of the car, and did not have time to pull out the car keys.
"Pushing the door was a bit hard, and a third of the door was under the water." As soon as Yang Tian got out of the car, he felt the pressure of the water crashing on his legs, hit a toe and almost fell, and his shoes were also washed off.
At this time, the front car was already floating on the water, and the people in the car had not yet gotten off the car to escape. Yang Tian framed as he passed by and slammed his car window, telling them to get out of the car and leave quickly.
When he was about to walk out of the tunnel, Yang Tian frame saw that most of the owners had already got off the car, some people were helping to go outside, and some people stood by the guardrail of the exit and shouted, "Don't be in the car, get off the car."
Coming out of the tunnel, the road area water has reached the waist, yang tian frame followed the crowd to the side of the viaduct to avoid danger.
According to Yang Tian's recollection, the location where he parked was only about 300 meters away from the tunnel, and the distance of driving flashed by, and he walked in the water for more than twenty minutes before he escaped.
Tethers save people
Yan Quanhu, 56, lives next to the south entrance of the Jingguang North Road Tunnel. Standing on the balcony of his home, he could look down on the whole situation outside the tunnel entrance.
At two o'clock in the afternoon of July 20, Yan Quanhu noticed that the water outside the tunnel had gone over his ankles and poured into the tunnel along the road. Cars slowly exited the tunnel, creating waves of water.
By about 5 p.m., Yan Quanhu saw people constantly walking out of the tunnel, and the water had reached his waist. He realized the danger.
Yan Quanhu quickly called out to the neighbor's big brother and went downstairs together to help save people. "I knew water (swimming), and I didn't think about anything at that time, I thought I had to go and rescue people."
Yan Quanhu and his neighbor's eldest brother are engaged in air conditioning dismantling work, and there are often ropes at home to lift and lower the outer box of air conditioning. Yan Quanhu went downstairs with four bundles of ropes, tied one end of the rope to the pole at the mouth of the tunnel, and the other end was connected to the roadside pole, and built a ropeway between the tunnel and the roadside steps for traction.
"The water was rushing so hard that [people] couldn't stand. I couldn't stand up when I fell, and I was directly washed away. Yan Quanhu pulled the rope and went into the water to help the old man, until about 7 p.m. on the 20th, and no one walked out of the tunnel.
According to Yan Quanhu's recollection, on the night of the 20th, the steps on the side of the road and the viaduct next to it were full of people.
The staff of the hotel near the tunnel mouth told reporters that in the afternoon, the water flowed from the road directly through the front steps of the hotel, and the hotel could not operate without power. Seeing more and more people outside, the staff led the pedestrians at the door to the hotel and hid in the corridor upstairs to avoid danger, "All the people standing in the corridor are people." ”
Cold rain combined with fear, the escaped Yang Tian frame stood on the elevated shelf trembling, knocking away the roadside car to avoid the rain. It wasn't until the early hours of the morning that I walked off the viaduct to go home. "Just thinking about running quickly, I didn't pull out the train key."
On the morning of July 21, Yang Tian returned to the tunnel and saw that the tunnel mouth was full of cars, "all piled up, horizontal and vertical, eight cars crowded together, all floating up." Yang Tian framed every day next to the tunnel, waiting for his car to be salvaged.
Yesterday afternoon, Yangtian Frame's Chevrolet was unloaded on the side of the road by a trailer, with a thick layer of silt on the roof and a body filled with water. Yang Tian frame scraped off the mud on the body of the car, dipped the water in the car with a towel, and the mud was all over his body, "First get it back to the repair shop and see if it is worth repairing."
Yang Tian took out his wallet and driving permit from the storage box on the car, and the water flowed down wet. Yang Tian frame carefully opened the driving license and wallet, and placed them on the side of the road to dry. Passers-by advised him, "When the car is soaked, it will bubble, as long as people come out."
Tough rescue
At 6 p.m. on July 23, the water at the south entrance of the Jingguang North Road tunnel had been pumped out, revealing the tunnel entrance. At the north entrance of the tunnel, the pump is still pumping water, and the accumulated water is discharged into the main road above the tunnel and then introduced into the roadside sewer. There is still water inside the Jingguang South Road tunnel, and the pumping work is still continuing, and it is necessary to wait for all the water to be pumped before the silt in the tunnel can be cleaned.
Trapped vehicles are also constantly being dragged out of the tunnel and temporarily parked on the side of the road. Police and firefighters continued to search and rescue at the scene. At the same time, sanitation vehicles entered the tunnel one after another to treat sewage and silt in the tunnel.
According to the on-site drainage rescue staff, the deepest water in the tunnel reached about 13 meters. Since the afternoon of July 21, the pump has been pumping water non-stop at a flow rate of 3,000 square meters per hour.
Li Ping, deputy secretary of the party committee of the Zhengzhou Municipal Urban Management Bureau, introduced at the scene yesterday morning that the Beijing-Guangzhou Tunnel is equipped with professional drainage equipment, but due to a large amount of silt blocking the drainage pipe, the tunnel is not drained smoothly. Silt deposition at the bottom of the tunnel, coupled with the stacking of wading vehicles, increases the difficulty of rescue.
Li Ping said that after three days of pumping search and rescue, more than 200 wading trucks have been dragged out, "less than 300." When the water surface in the tunnel dropped to 1.2 to 1.5 meters, no other vehicles were trapped in the tunnel. But whether there are still trapped people in the tunnel, Li Ping said that it is still uncertain, "now I dare not say that there must be none."
According to Xinhua News Agency, it has been confirmed that some people have been killed, and the specific number is still being verified. The reporter learned that on July 21, the remains of two victims were found during the drainage search and rescue process.
According to videos provided by surrounding residents, yesterday afternoon, only five or six trapped vehicles were left at the south entrance of the Tunnel on Jingguang North Road.
When the trailer was preparing to be transferred at the entrance, a police officer walked quickly to the car, bent down to look at the cab and the inside of the car to observe, and waved his hand back. Nearby residents sighed, "This shows that there is no one in the car, this is the most beautiful gesture."
