On the afternoon of September 28, the Beijing Exhibition Center welcomed a special group of visitors, who were just awarded the National Medal and the National Honorary Title. "I was very excited while waiting for the lecture, and this is the moment I am most proud of." Meng Xin, a docent from the August 1st Uprising Memorial Hall in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, described to the China Economic Herald reporter that during the explanation, she noticed a faltering grandmother patiently listening to the story, sometimes stopping, sometimes staring. Meng Xin recognized her at a glance as one of the heroic model figures she usually explained to the audience - Fan Jinshi.

As a scholar with ancestral roots in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, born in Beijing, raised in Shanghai, and formerly the president of the Dunhuang Research Institute, Fan Jinshi regards the safety of the Dunhuang Grottoes as life, takes root in the desert, takes the lead in carrying out special regulations and protection planning and construction of cultural relics protection in the country, explores the theory and method of forming the scientific protection of grottoes, and makes outstanding contributions to the protection, inheritance and utilization of the cultural relics and large sites of Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes, a world cultural heritage, and is known as "the daughter of Dunhuang". Her heroic deeds are displayed on the Heroic Model Wall in the 1980s exhibition area.

"Grandma Fan told me that since graduating from Peking University in 1963, faced with the choice of going to Beijing or Shanghai, she resolutely chose a western town thousands of miles away, went to Dunhuang and never left, and insisted on working in the Dunhuang Research Institute for more than 40 years." Meng Xin excitedly recounted that Fan Jinshi took root in the desert, separated from her husband and children for 19 years, and dedicated her life to Dunhuang. It was her greatest honor to have the privilege of seeing the "Daughter of Dunhuang" in person and explaining it.

Meng Xin said that Fan Jinshi's deeds of immersing herself in research and dedicating her life to the cause of national cultural relics protection are touching and motivating people to forge ahead.

The explanatory work is not only a vivid patriotic education lesson, but also the best carrier of self-cultivation. Meng Xin, 32, has been working as an interpreter for 11 years. "You've been talking for more than ten years, won't you get tired?" As a senior docent, Meng Xin is often asked this question. "I feel that many people have a misunderstanding of the work of the docent, and always think that they eat youth meals, but this is not the case." Meng Xin sighed to the China Economic Herald reporter: "In our team of explainers this time, there are not a few people over the age of 30. Insisting on one thing and doing it repeatedly and seriously will definitely have a lot of gains. I love it because I know it, and I insist on it because I love it. ”

Meng Xin introduced that he had previously served as an interpreter for major events such as the Shanghai World Expo and the large-scale achievement exhibition held to welcome the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. "Participating in a large-scale national exhibition this time is more of a sentiment." Meng Xin sighed and said that when she participated in the large-scale achievement exhibition of "Brilliant Achievements in Scientific Development" in 2012, she had just participated in the work for 4 years, and it was that experience that made her have greatly improved her comprehensive quality such as mind and skills. Subsequently, due to personal reasons, Meng Xin missed the large-scale exhibition opportunities of "Five Years of Hard Work" and "40 Years of Reform and Opening Up". "At that time, I was very anxious in my heart, and as soon as I heard that I had the opportunity to participate in the exhibition this year, I enthusiastically signed up for the first time, and I had a strong desire to vow success."

This time, Meng Xin's wish came true and he was selected to be included in the "Reform and Opening Up" section of the 70th Anniversary Large-scale Achievement Exhibition. She described to the China Economic Herald that compared with 7 years ago, her understanding of the work of explaining has changed, from the initial docent, to now become the head of the education section of the August 1st Uprising Memorial Hall in Nanchang, Jiangxi, as a manager, Meng Xin believes that the explanatory work is not only a post, but also a career, it is worth continuing to do a good job.

"Will you work as a docent all your life?" "I'm pretty sure I'm not going to leave my post." When answering a reporter's question, Meng Xin said firmly, "My deepest experience in the work of a docent is that I can't relax myself for a moment. "After obtaining a bachelor's degree in management from Wuhan University of Technology, this year she embarked on a new starting point and began to study for a master's degree in the history of the Communist Party of China, continuing to pursue her career ideals." If the docent is just talking about a manuscript, perhaps the current high-tech can be completely replaced. The docent is more of a research, digging into social education, through our spoken language, more professional posture, more novel methods, targeted 'speaking according to people'. Meng Xin said very experiencefully that social education is a major trend in the development of museums now.

Persistence, struggle and continuous learning are the deepest experiences in Meng Xin's more than ten years of explanation. She said that the beijing explanation experience, whether in learning, business, or management, hopes to bring back to Jiangxi bit by bit. "I think it's also like the fine tradition of the red gene, I want to bring it back to my hometown to cultivate more and better new teams, which is my biggest goal here."
