7. Asteroid Chinese Light 2963 Star - On March 31, 1990, the China International Asteroid Naming Committee named Planet 2963 discovered by the Purple Mountain Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on November 9, 1964 as "Chen Jiageng Star".

Chen Jiageng (1874–1961) was a native of Jimei She, Tong'an County, Quanzhou Province, Fujian Province (now Jimei District, Xiamen). He is a great patriot, an outstanding overseas Chinese leader, a famous industrialist, educator, philanthropist and social activist. At the age of seventeen, he went to Singapore to start a business with his father, and then independently ran a pineapple canning factory, rice shop and rubber plantation. After 1916, mainly in the rubber and rubber products industry, its sales network spread all over the world during its heyday, and it was one of the four pioneers of the Xinma gum kingdom, and became a well-known large industrialist at home and abroad.

Chen Jiageng lives in a foreign country, cherishes his hometown, is determined to serve the motherland and devotes funds to public welfare undertakings such as education. In 1913, Jimei Primary School was established in his hometown, and later added normal schools, middle schools, aquatic products, navigation, commerce, agriculture and other schools, collectively known as "Jimei School". In 1921, Chen Jiageng founded Xiamen University, and after settling in Jimei in 1952, he continued to raise funds and plan to expand the scale of the school. Under his initiative, many overseas Chinese donated funds to revitalize their studies, which became a common practice and had a far-reaching impact. He not only bowed down to the cause of education, but also had excellent educational ideas, advocating that students should develop in an all-round way in moral, intellectual, and physical education, advocating vocational and technical education, attaching great importance to teacher education, and attaching importance to the decisive role of principals and teachers in running schools. He also promoted social education, personally built the "Museum Grand View" of Jimei Ao Garden, and advocated the construction of the Xiamen Overseas Chinese Museum.

Chen Jiageng is sincerely patriotic and revitalizes China. In 1909, he became acquainted with Sun Yat-sen, and the following year he joined the League and raised funds to support Sun Yat-sen's revolutionary activities. After the outbreak of the "July 7" War of Resistance in 1937, he organized the "Nanyang Overseas Chinese Federation to Raise Relief for the Motherland's Refugees" to lead and support the motherland's anti-Japanese salvation. In 1939, Wang Jingwei defected to the enemy in treason, and he sternly denounced it. In March 1940, he led the "Nanyang Overseas Chinese Repatriation Condolence Inspection Mission" to return to China to inspect various war zones and Chongqing, Yan'an and other places, not afraid of rape, adhering to the truth, distinguishing between right and wrong, opposing Chiang Kai-shek's dictatorship, and persisting in unity and resistance. In 1949, he was invited by Chairman Mao Zedong to return to China to participate in the new CPPCC meeting and the founding ceremony, and returned to China in February 1952 to settle down. Throughout his life, Chen Jiageng made outstanding contributions to the Xinhai Revolution, national education, the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the War of Liberation, and the construction of New China. He once served as vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese Political Consultative Conference, member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and chairman of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese. He was praised by Mao Zedong as "the banner of overseas Chinese and the glory of the nation".

On 11 March 1990, the International Minor Planet Center and the Asteroid Nomenclature Committee named an asteroid numbered 2963 " Chen Jiageng Star " .
