From 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on May 29, the staff of the Forest Prevention and Quarantine Station of the Linjiang Forestry Bureau carried out artificial monitoring of the artificial trapping of the adult stage of the cones pests in the female forest of Red Pine cones.
In recent years, with the increase of the area of korean pine plantations in Linjiang Forestry Bureau and the intensification of artificial interference activities such as picking cones, the harm of cones pests has become increasingly serious, and the rate of damage and seed loss of cones of cones is relatively high, posing a serious threat to the forest ecological environment and the development of forestry economy. There are about three kinds of red pine cones distributed in the Linjiang Forestry Bureau, namely: the coccidioid moth, the fruit-tipped spotted borer and the fir spotted borer, which have different biological characteristics. The staff of the forest quarantine station took advantage of the characteristics of insects at night with phototropism to carry out nighttime lights to trap adult red pine cones pests and carry out artificial monitoring.

At the night adult trap site, the staff of the forest defense station used the lamp luring method to hang a 450-watt high-pressure mercury lamp in the relative leeward, using a generator as the power source for the trap lamp, and hanging a 180×300 cm insect collection cloth behind the lamp in order to lure moth insects. On-site quarantine personnel use quarantine methods such as visual inspection and hand inspection to collect adult moths with a body length of 8 to 18 mm on the curtain that are attracted by light by using pre-prepared poison bottles.
