On December 17, Cargill announced that it will invest US$235 million in the second phase of the expansion project of Hebei Jiahao Grain and Oil Co., Ltd.

FMCG learned that the Hebei Jiahao Grain and Oil Project is located in The Bohai New Area of Cangzhou, Hebei Province, with an investment of US$260 million in the first phase of the project, was officially put into operation in 2016. The second phase of the project is expected to be operational in 2022, when oilseed crushing capacity will double to 3.3 million tons/year at current levels, and a new vegetable oil refining line and a packaging line will be built to better meet the consumer demand for high-quality food in the northern market.
Cargill Asia Pacific President and Cargill Asia Pacific Agricultural Supply Chain Group President Ambrose said: "The investment in the phase II expansion project reflects Cargill's commitment to continue to invest in the Chinese market, and through continuous investment in Cangzhou Bohai New Area and Hebei Province, Cargill hopes to contribute to the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin wing. The new investment also reflects Cargill's continued commitment to supporting the development of feed and food customers in the region.
After the second phase of the expansion project is put into operation, Hebei Jiahao Grains and Oils will become the largest oilseed processing plant operated by Cargill in China and one of Cargill's largest oilseed processing plants in the world. In addition to Hebei Jiahao Grains and Oils, Cargill operates four oilseed processing plants in China, all located in the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions.
