Yingze: From a high-achieving criminologist to a literary film goddess, the most difficult thing in acting is to break through the "rational" choice to break through diversity

"I think the world is very big, a lot of things are not binary opposites, there is no simple answer, or a central idea." 」

"After I started making movies, I was questioned a lot, and some of them surprised me very much, is it still a feudal society?"

At this point, Yingze's indignation flashed by, and in a flash, he returned to a peaceful state. She has a gentle and heroic face, the first time they meet, modest and courteous, even a little shy. But when the conversation began, her expression was very clear and firm, revealing a sharp side of her personality from time to time.

She listed all kinds of criticisms she had experienced: for example, some people ridiculed that you obviously have such a good education, isn't it very unproductive to be an actress, after all, "drama" is not a glorious profession; some people joke, why do you always want to "play ugly", to play a minority, hairstyle is not fashionable at all; some people gossip, you have a solid family background, and you want to be a female star...

Yingze has been troubled, angry, and entangled, "In fact, this is a big problem that bothers me, maybe the environment I grew up in may be too open, I feel quite surprised." She no longer opened her mouth easily and did not explain to others.

And when she reflects and digests, the conclusion is very simple - it is not her fault, then try to avoid being swayed by it. She is willing to talk to the media about these confusions in the hope that in turn it will affect others, "I think we should maintain a more diverse, open mind, to face a lot of things." 」

Hidezawa

In the film industry, Hidezawa is quite a special existence. Perhaps for many ordinary audiences, she rarely appears in commercial productions and lacks the presence of "female stars". However, in the field of literary and art films, she has long been a regular visitor to film festivals at home and abroad, and is the new favorite goddess of film fans.

The reason why Yingze became an actor was originally due to a "rebellious" accident.

Until the age of 25, she had been educated by the elite and had no intention of setting foot in the show business. Born in 1990 in the courtyard of Xicheng, Beijing, she graduated from a prestigious british girls' school in high school, majored in social policy and criminology at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and studied philosophy at Harvard University.

After graduation, she had planned to work in an investment bank, and if there were no accidents, her life would continue like this. However, she finds the work of a financial institution boring and eager for new and interesting challenges.

At a party, she happened to meet an old professor at the Beijing Film Academy, listened to the other party talk about the daily life of the film crew, and germinated her yearning for "another world".

The next plot development seems to be doomed in the dark, and it is inevitable that there will be the blessing of good luck. Yingze submitted his resume to Cai Liangming's production company, but not because he was a fan of Cai' film, but because he wanted to go to an international film company. She knew nothing about making movies and was working as a producer. Under the wrong circumstances, she met cai liang's assistant director at the time, Pengfei.

After the age of 25, Hidezawa began a long-term cooperation with director Pengfei, and his debut film "Underground Incense" was shortlisted for the Venice Day Unit of the Venice International Film Festival, and then starred in "The Taste of Rice Blossoms" and "See Nara Again", and has appeared in Shanghai, Tokyo and other international film festivals.

In the FIRST Youth Film Festival in August this year, Yingze is the most "changeable" actor, in the three films, creating three women with completely different faces: in "Mountains and Rivers", she is a Jiangnan tailor who has experienced the pain of losing her son, her face is cold and emotionally restrained; in "Wings Flying South", she is the girlfriend of a truck driver, hot tempered and cursing; in "Rain Hit Basho", she is a "little three" who has a glimpse, and has a relationship with middle-aged doctor colleagues.

These colorful screen characters are the result of Yingze's hard work for a whole year last year. Try to take on different roles, break through, don't repeat, this is exactly the goal she agreed with herself after she officially decided to embark on the road of professional actress.

How did she choose to become an actress? What kind of confusion has she experienced and what challenges has she completed? The following is Hidezawa's self-statement.

When I graduated from college, I was particularly confused, and I felt that the people around me from childhood to adulthood were the same, and the environment was the same, so I felt quite bored.

I'm a person who likes freshness and doesn't really like the step-by-step life. Maybe because I moved around in many places since I was a child, settled in different countries and cities, if I stayed in one place for a long time, I would feel annoyed.

In fact, I was very determined to go to international organizations since I was a child, so I chose social policy and criminology as an undergraduate, and I originally planned to go to the United States to study law, and at the beginning I was trained in financial institutions.

But it wasn't until I went to an investment bank internship that I found that I really didn't like to sit in class and wanted to change my lifestyle.

Coincidentally, at a gathering of friends, I met an old nortel professor and some young people who made movies. I am in contact with them, I feel so free, every day life is different, otherwise I will try.

At the beginning, because I had investment banking experience, I felt that production management was more appropriate. But after I really got in touch, I think I still like to create, because doing management is actually not much different from the nature of my investment banking.

I'm actually shy, and I'm embarrassed to eat with strangers. I am particularly afraid of public speaking, and I will be nervous for half a day in class.

But the first time I made "Underground Incense", when I acted, everyone stared at me, and I didn't feel scared at all, and I didn't know why.

In fact, I am very different from the aesthetic of director Pengfei, he likes the aesthetic feeling of Japanese and Taiwan, and I prefer Europe and the United States, Kubrick and the like.

Director Pengfei let me learn, one is his reverence for the work, the pursuit of art; and the other is his personality, I especially admire him.

When filming "The Taste of Rice Flowers", director Pengfei directly carried a pair of shoulders on his back and went to the border of Yunnan for a year. His enthusiasm and dedication are simply not easy. And he never complains, and no matter what setbacks he encounters, I've never heard him say anything bad about a person, or a sad one.

There may be some creators whose personality will be more strange, very normal, will be a little high, a little difficult to get along with, some quirks. But Pengfei is a particularly responsible person, bearing everything by himself. He will always bring good news to the people around him, and the bad news will be borne by himself, and he will always find his own problems at the first time.

I admire my mom, she's very independent and doesn't care too much about me and doesn't force marriage.

My family is very free and open-minded, and it has been like this for generations, not interfering with each other, doing their own thing. I'll give you an example, for example, like the film and television dramas often show that the family is short, staring at each other during meals, asking you what to do today, our family has no such things at all, everyone is busy with their own things, and there will be a certain sense of distance.

To be honest, when I really started making movies after I returned to China, I suffered a lot of questions, not from my family, but from my environment.

Probably in my environment, being an actor is not a very decent thing to do. Especially if I make a literary film again, some people will think that it is too niche, think you are making a movie?

"The Taste of Rice Blossoms", everyone says why you dress like this, why do you want to dress up old; "See Nara Again", says that your hair is too low, too forehead. But in fact, we were shooting Japan in the 2000s, when that hairstyle was particularly popular in Japan, and I thought I should be more professional.

When I go to parties, I really often get that way. Then I'm not going to talk about what I'm doing, because once I do, people will start talking around you again.

In fact, these words surprised me, is it still a feudal society? What I said was a bit of an exaggeration, but it was a big problem that bothered me.

It's part of our culture and we're used to making a lot of judgments, I'm for your own good, how you should be. Just like I'm a criminologist who is a science, I'm going to be questioned why you're learning this. But I don't think this science necessarily has to do anything. I think we should keep a more open mind and face a lot of things.

Sometimes, I shake it up too. My family is my strong backing, they are very supportive of me, let me not care what others say, feel that I am doing something very meaningful.

Instead, my family asked me to do one thing, to do my best, not necessarily success in the worldly sense, but to do my best.

The challenge I face as an actor is that I still have a certain sense of distance from people, and I will not be very close and warm when I say it.

Many people will say this to me, just like director Wang Xide of "Mountains and Rivers" will tell me, you have been shooting for a year, we are not familiar with each other. Maybe when he came to me to do something when shooting, I would always stand up, I think this is basic respect, I will not fight with him, but he may feel too restrained.

I think this is a habit, when I was in school, I was not particularly accustomed to the way girls get along with each other,000 jokes, or paid more attention to privacy. It's the same in my home, and I have my own sense of space.

Of course, I don't have any problem communicating with people, but there may still be some barriers, more accustomed to rational thinking, and it is difficult to release emotional emotions.

I need to constantly explore my inner feelings, dig out my own experiences, find empathy points, and also need some inspiration from directors and actors.

You may not feel it when you watch the movie, but "Mountains and Rivers" is actually a big breakthrough for me.

Mu Renee plays my niece in the play, and there is a strong chemical reaction between us. There was a scene in the hospital hallway, I hugged her, and neither of us thought it would have that much impact. When I first read the script, I also told the director that it was a miscarriage and surgery, which was too common to impress me. But on the day of the real shooting, as soon as I hugged her, we all cried at once, crying so much that we couldn't go any further.

This kind of emotional outburst moment is relatively rare in my previous filming experience.

Director Wang Xide is very sensitive, the vision of the actors is very good, and he is also very good at creating an atmosphere. The first time we met, we felt like family, which was rare. I had a very happy time in the crew, and everyone had a very deep feeling, which also had an impact on the performance.

I've always been concerned about specific cases in criminology. One case was about a few young people in Australia who had been selling drugs since childhood and ended up in Indonesia. The Indonesian government locked them up. But they are not malicious habitual offenders, they just think it is funny.

The international community has been putting pressure on the Indonesian government, these young people have been reformed in prison, helped a lot of people, done a lot of useful things, not a serious crime, all sides of public opinion hope to let them out. But as a result, the Indonesian government shot them for political reasons.

Combined with what I learned in school, many things cannot distinguish between absolute right and wrong, but are actually for political service. For example, if the drug crime rate in a certain place suddenly increases, it may be because the current government wants to crack down on drugs.

I don't think a lot of things are binary, there's no simple answer, or a central idea. The world is particularly big, and it is necessary to maintain an open mind and accept more diverse things.

In developed countries in Europe and the United States, although many people look quite self-sufficient, in fact, the society as a whole is very solidified, and many people are step-by-step, and in some aspects they are quite traditional.

But China feels vibrant, anything can happen, and even I think Chinese young people are very competitive in the world.

If I really have the opportunity to be a director in the future, I am more interested in the subject of international politics and social relations. I myself tried to write a script about a transnational family.

In fact, before, I didn't know much about art films, the amount of reading was very low, there was no kind of heartfelt love, and I simply wanted to change my lifestyle.

It wasn't until after making "The Taste of Rice Flowers" that I started watching a lot of movies and really fell in love with the art of cinema. I had planned to go abroad to study as an art graduate student and maybe make my own film, but because I caught up with the epidemic, I suddenly slowed down and thought about a lot of things, and I felt that I was not ready.

There happened to be some art films coming to me, and I thought it would be nice to be a professional actor and accumulate for a while.
