"Peach Blossom An" is a classic play of the Yu opera Cui Pai, a family drama. For Teacher Zhang Baoying, the eldest disciple of the Cui Sect, it is naturally the most important play in his life. Since the movie "Bao Qingtian" became popular all over the country, Zhang Baoying has become the leader of Cui Pai, and Master Cui Lantian has also preached all of Cui Pai's classic plays to her. And kung fu pays off, Zhang Baoying also became the leader of Yu opera actors in the same period, influencing a generation of opera fans. For me, she really sang Cui Pai into my heart.
Zhang Baoying's contact with "Peach Blossom An" began with the role of the second daughter Chen Miaoshan, she came into contact with the role of Chen Miaoshan in the 1960s, and followed the performance of Cui Lantian's master Tiannanhaibei, and the stage and life also made this play integrate into Zhang Baoying's life experience. By the 1980s, Teacher Zhang Baoying had changed from female second to female Dou, and she had picked Liang's Cui Pai drama. In the genre performance, she shared part of the selection of dou's family in this play. And chen Miaoshan, the second female actress who has successively played her, is her two sisters Guo Huilan and Zhang Xiaoxia, and many years later, Zhang Xiaoxia still has a lot of feelings when she recalls this time. Zhang Guo's co-starring in this drama has an audio, and the two Zhang co-starred in "Peach Blossom An" has always been my favorite. Privately, I think it is no worse than the version of Master Cui Lantian and Cui Lanyu. In addition, Zhang Baoying has brought this drama to Baodao Taiwan many times, and has also cooperated with Taiwanese Yu opera people to perform this play. Personally, he has also repeatedly taken the 20% discount of "Soan Pangu" in this drama as a classic repertoire of his personal concerts. It can be seen that Teacher Zhang's love for Dou's and even the play "Peach Blossom An" is.
After retirement, "Peach Blossom An" is still one of the most frequently sung plays by Teacher Zhang Baoying, especially the singing section of "Nine Spring Returns to Apricot Blossoms", which often appears in various drama columns. Moreover, he often went down to the grassroots level and performed with the apprentices' troupes, passing on the band to perform this repertoire. On the Internet, there are videos of his 70s working with Cui Xiaotian of the Anyang troupe, as well as singing segments of his performances with his disciple Hu Enfeng in the Qiheyu Opera Troupe in Hebi City.
The reason why this play is sung so frequently is because it is based on the classicism of Cui Pai and the classicism of Chinese Yu opera. Teacher Zhang, who has passed the age of ancient rarity, is still running around the industry, which should make many young generation actors moved. I also hope that the new generation of Cui Pai can take over this banner and pass on the Cui Pai well.
