Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan
In the run-up to another film about Harvey Weinstein's sexual assault, Universal's new film She Said focuses on the experiences of two female New York Times reporters investigating and reporting on the incident, with Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan discussing starring.
The film focuses not on Weinstein or his scandals, but on an all-female team of journalists who have braved the threat of lawsuits and intimidation to cover a game-changing story. Maria A. Schrader ("I Am Your Human") directed, and Rebecca Lenkowitz ("Sister Ida") wrote the screenplay in a style similar to "Spotlight" and "Presidential Team".
After an article about Weinstein's years of sexual assault and harassment of women came to light on October 5, 2017, sparked the Hollywood earthquake, the voices of several insiders, and the rise of the MeToo and TimesUp movements, Weinstein was eventually fired from his own company and sentenced to 23 years in prison for rape.
