In 421, Mengxun of the Northern Liang Depression Canal welcomed the Tianzhu monk Tan Wuchen to Guzang (present-day Wuwei, Gansu) to translate Buddhist scriptures.
Ephemeral
In 420, after the destruction of Xiliang by Mengxun, the road to the western region was completely opened, providing good political conditions for the spread of Buddhism to the interior. This year, Ku believed in witchcraft and prayed for the protection of the bodhisattva, and the depressed canal Mengxun welcomed Tan Wuyu to guzang to translate the scriptures.
Frustrated (368–433)
Tan Wuchen translated the Sutras in Liang for 20 years, and successively translated 11 Mahayana Buddhist sutras, a total of 113 volumes, including the Great Nirvana Sutra, the Fang et al Da ji sutra, the Buddha Ben Xing Sutra, the Sorrowful Hua Sutra, and the Golden Guangming Sutra.
In 433, The Northern Wei Dynasty sent him to Pingcheng (平城, in modern Datong, Shanxi) to teach Buddhist translations. Soon, Tan Wuchen requested to return to the west, and Frustrated Qu Mengxun sent people to assassinate Tan Wuchen and kill him.
