Founded in 1980, the Harbin Police Dog Training Base moved to a new site more than 20 kilometers away from Harbin City in 2015, and is the only comprehensive police dog training institution of the former public security border defense force that integrates five functions of "training, teaching, scientific research, breeding and guidance". Covering an area of about 250,000 square meters, it is currently the largest police dog training base in China, which can provide training for the national police with dogs.

"'Tai Chi', search..." In a green-skinned train car, with the instructions of the trainer Liu Qi, the police dog "Tai Chi" immediately rushed into the carriage to start the task, on the seat, under the seat, the suitcase, the trash can was not spared, less than 6 seconds, "Tai Chi" lay down in front of a suitcase, Liu Qi walked over and successfully found the "dangerous goods" in the box.
"The space in the train carriage is closed, there are many people, the smell is mixed, and there is also the problem of the height of getting on and off the train, and after such on-site simulation training, the police dog can find dangerous goods faster when participating in the mission." Liu Qi told reporters that in order to further integrate the actual combat application of police dog technology, the Harbin Police Dog Training Base recently carried out police dog simulation training. Combined with the task functions and service characteristics of the immigration management work, the base uses the newly built simulated combat site to set up a variety of practical subjects such as "railway security inspection" and "carriage security inspection". While ensuring that police dogs can quickly adapt to complex and harsh task environments, we focus on testing the operational capabilities of police dogs accompanying police officers in the process of participating in law enforcement and major security activities at border ports, and show the practical utility of the police team with dogs in rapid response, coordination and cooperation, and the lawful, reasonable and professional use of police dogs to deal with emergencies.

In the athletics training ground, which covers an area of nearly 10,000 square meters, more than 10 metal boxes more than one meter high are simulated. With the order of the trainer, the police dog "Stone" immediately rushed into the field and sniffed around the box. In less than 20 seconds, "Stone" managed to find the "trapped person". In another simulation site, the police dog "Admiral" and "Black Shadow" are training practical projects such as "backpack drug search" and "cargo inspection and explosion disposal".
"At present, there are more than 20 dog breeds such as German Shepherd, Marinoah, Andubervin, etc., except for some excellent breeding dogs imported from abroad, most of them are independent breeding." According to Meng Qingbo, captain of the police dog training brigade of the Harbin Police Dog Training Base, a puppy from 8 months to 1 year old to carry out initial obedience subject training, it takes about one and a half months, and then the use of subject training, it takes about 4 to 5 months, if the inspection is qualified, it will also carry out 1 to 2 months of actual combat training, these items are all assessed to become a qualified police dog.

"In the summer, the weather is hot, the thick back hair of the police dog is not conducive to heat dissipation, coupled with the high ground temperature is easy to burn the dog's paws, recently we have carried out the 'morning training and night training' training activities." Usually at three or four o'clock, the trainer and the dog start training, finish at seven or eight o'clock, and then come out at seven or eight o'clock in the evening to practice until about ten o'clock." Meng Qingbo told reporters that each police dog has a special training of soldiers throughout the process, in order to adapt to the habits of police dogs, soldiers get up early and sleep late is very hard.
"The G20 Summit, the Olympic Games, the National Games, the Asian Games... The security of these major events has the presence of our soldiers and police dogs." Meng Qingbo said that over the years, the Harbin Police Dog Training Base has twice won the collective second-class merit and the collective third-class merit, and more than 100 police officers have been awarded for their meritorious service. Successfully held 21 national police dog trainer training courses, 4 police dog commander training courses, and 4 police dog hygienist training courses.
