First encounter
Everyone has countless encounters in their lives, either short or long, joyful or sad. The encounter with Dongguan education, I think, is the fate of the underworld.
In September 2020, I completed the defense of the graduation thesis at my alma mater, Central China Normal University, and in order to be able to teach the topic of the thesis research, I contacted my former teacher and came to Dongguan to become an art intern teacher in Dongguan Foreign Chinese School.
Outside Guanwai, I met a teacher who had a great influence on the development of my discipline, Teacher Wang Chaihui. She is gentle and kind, and the first time she saw her made me feel very kind when I first came to a foreign country, after in-depth communication with her, I further felt her serious professionalism and innovation. After carefully understanding my thesis topic and listening to my ideas, she carefully guided me on where I should start practicing.
In terms of teaching, in order to allow students to better grasp the content of the course, the teachers of the Wanwai Art Group guided me to grasp the rhythm of the classroom and design the highlights of teaching activities, listened to my trial lectures over and over again, and spent time with me to grind lessons, their rigorous attitude, professionalism and dedication to the podium deeply affected me, and also prompted me to secretly resolve that I must have a serious and responsible attitude towards teaching work and students in the future.
On the day of the internship, I also followed Mr. Wang to participate in the art teaching and research activities of dongguan primary and secondary school teacher development center, and through listening to lectures and listening to high-quality lessons, I saw the new situation of art education in Dongguan.
As graduation approached, the prelude to teacher recruitment in various places kicked off, while interning while looking for a job, I signed up for the teacher recruitment examination in Dongguan, internship, review, writing papers, preparing for recruitment, and finally I successfully became a new teacher in Dongguan in 2021.
Reunion
Time flies, successfully graduated, walked out of the school, and came to Dongguan again, this time I will enter Dongguan Wangniudun Middle School as a new teacher.
"Can I become a qualified teacher?" How do I get students to like me? "Questions and confusion kept popping up in my mind, and just when I was confused about the future, the series of standardized training provided by the Municipal Education Bureau for new teachers made me no longer wander."
At the Teacher Development Center, new teachers have received a heavy pile of books, and at this moment I understand that the road ahead still needs to be constantly enriched – if you want to give students a glass of water, you must first have a bucket of water; only if teachers have extensive knowledge, can they attract students and make students fall in love with your subject.
Here, expert teachers use vivid and lively cases and teaching insights to share the meaning and value of education with us; here, I also met my peers who entered Dongguan education with me, and we grew and progressed together on the day of training.
Standing in the huge conference room solemnly swearing an oath to the national flag, at that moment I deeply felt the responsibility of teaching and educating people on my shoulders.
Class
After the training, I returned to my job at the school to prepare for the new semester. As a teacher, there is nothing better than meeting a student for the first time. In the first art class, when I first saw so many cute and childish faces, my joy came to my heart, and I communicated with the students in this class to hear their thoughts on the art class.
In the classroom, students are encouraged to speak boldly, encourage them to dare to express themselves, and the pleasant learning atmosphere makes students enthusiastic about this subject. Some students reported that they had never taken art class and thought that art was as simple as painting, and I guided them to pay attention to what they saw and heard around them, telling them that art has always been around them and presented in a very interesting way in daily life.
As teacher Ma Xinmin said, "a good teacher-student relationship is the premise of good education", education is not a one-man show of teachers, but a student-oriented, guided by equal exchanges with students, so that teaching has temperature.
Education is a beautiful encounter, and this encounter is also a gift, a fate. In Dongguan, I changed from a trainee teacher to a regular teacher, and I witnessed the development of Dongguan education, and Dongguan education also witnessed my growth.
The road is long and the road is long, and I will seek up and down. The road ahead is still very long, I will strive to improve myself, practice the school motto of my alma mater "realistic and innovative, Lide tree people", and strive to become a qualified people's teacher, and I hope that Dongguan's education cause will become more brilliant with the growth of young teachers!
