As Lieutenant Colonel Frank, the protagonist of Smell the Woman, mentioned in his popular speech in the movie: At the crossroads of life, I know which way is right, but I never go, why? Because that's so bitter. ”

I began to think that this play must be about a man's reading of women starting with a certain perfume.

Taking the time to watch this drama, I found that there is a reason why the drama of 92 years can be called a classic and has been passed down to this day.

Smell the woman

The film revolves around two people and two story lines, Charlie is a middle school student in an aristocratic school, the school is crowded with children from rich second-generation families everywhere, and Charlie can squeeze into this school is completely his own learning ability.

Frank is a former U.S. veteran officer who has experienced war and many setbacks, and was blinded in an accident. He was idle at home all day and lost the courage and confidence to live.

By coincidence, Charlie needs to work and study to make money, while Frank needs to hire a caregiver. The two men came together by mistake. At the first meeting, Charlie is to back down from Frank's sarcasm and temper, and because the family is unable to take care of Frank on a trip, Charlie becomes Frank's caregiver.

Frank is blinded by life and is ready to use his last energy to enjoy a good life.

He took Charlie on trips, ate food, drove a flying car, tango jumped, stayed in a luxury hotel, and then wanted to end his life. Charlie tried his best to stop the lieutenant colonel's misdeeds, and a father-son relationship grew between them.

The trip heats up the relationship between the two men quickly, and Charlie has Frank spark a new hope for life and finds a reason to live.

Charlie also inadvertently witnessed several students preparing to tease the principal, who asked him to say the mastermind of the prank, otherwise he would be punished. Frank gives a wonderful defense of Charlie in the school auditorium, which eventually sublimates the plot and saves Charlie from punishment because of this final speech.

"There is a spirit that cannot be changed by matter, it is justice in people's hearts, and we should protect it." As Frank said in the debate, he had encountered too many children with broken arms and legs on the battlefield, but none of them were as terrible as ugly souls.

In the film, the rich children blur their words and shirk their responsibilities under the protection of their fathers, but Charlie chooses the more difficult path, he has a pure soul. We will encounter many forks in life, how will you choose?
