On the same day, the Foreign Affairs Office of Liuzhou City and the Consulate General of Vietnam in Nanning held a foreign affairs activity with the theme of "Remembering the Glory Years of the Ancestors, Keeping the Original Heart and Forging Ahead" at the former residence of Ho Chi Minh, expressing the remembrance of the revolutionary ancestors and the cherishing of the traditional friendship between China and Vietnam.
Ho Chi Minh's Former Residence, a two-story brick and wood structure, was the residence of former Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh during his revolutionary work in Liuzhou in the 1940s. In 1996, the Liuzhou municipal government named the building Ho Chi Minh Former Residence to commemorate Ho Chi Minh's history in Liuzhou and the traditional friendship between China and Vietnam.
At the event site, Huang Yurong presented a wreath of flowers to the statue of Ho Chi Minh. In his speech, Huang Yurong said that in the past national liberation revolution and the current cause of socialist construction, the vietnamese and Chinese peoples have supported each other, fought side by side, and formed a deep friendship, just as President Ho Chi Minh praised "the friendship between Vietnam and China is deep, comrades and brothers."
Liuzhou is the closest Chinese industrial city adjacent to ASEAN and an important passage city for China to ASEAN. Statistics provided by the Liuzhou Council for the Promotion of International Trade show that in 2020, the city's foreign trade imports and exports to Vietnam reached 947 million yuan, accounting for 4.1% of the city's total foreign trade imports and exports.
During their stay in Liuzhou, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Nanning visited Liuzhou enterprises and carried out economic and trade exchanges with leading enterprises in Liuzhou such as Guangxi Liugong Machinery Co., Ltd., Dongfeng Liuzhou Automobile Co., Ltd., saic-GM-Wuling Automobile Co., Ltd., etc., to promote economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between Liuzhou enterprises and Vietnam, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results and common development.
Huang Yurong said that on the basis of the friendly relations between the two countries, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Nanning will play a bridge role and make due contributions to promoting economic, trade and investment relations between Guangxi and Vietnam. (End)
