"Cerebral palsy must not be able to read? No, I don't agree. These words came from a teenager with cerebral palsy. At the age of 6, he was diagnosed with congenital cerebral palsy with severe impairments in limb movement and speech.
Completed the path of study on his mother's back, and founded the "Dissent" poetry club under the cultivation and encouragement of the history teacher. In 2020, 15 poems were published, and he received 550 yuan in remuneration.
Children who earn money with their hands for the first time are very happy for their "no drag". How did he overcome the hardships of life and go to the road of poetry? What kind of poems did he write? In this issue, the children's observation tells the story of Roger, the "poet of cerebral palsy".

In 2003, Roger, a teenager of the Buyi ethnic group, was born in Chengheng County, Qianxi Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province. It is China's famous "hometown of national culture" and "hometown of Buyi opera art".
His father, Luo Chaodong, worked outside the home for many years and was the pillar of the family, and his mother took care of Roger at home. The parents have great hopes for their children, hoping that Roger will become an outstanding talent in the future and be able to stand out.
Roger grew up weak and sick, sick even more than healthy days, and his life was in danger on several serious occasions. Gradually, parents perceive that something is wrong, and their children are obviously lagging behind their peers in all aspects.
He couldn't say a complete sentence until he was two years old, and at the age of 5 he barely walked shakily, and he often wrestled backwards and backwards. His mother, Luo Zhonghua, was anxious and took Roger to Chengheng, Baise and other places to seek medical treatment.
A hospital in Baise judged that Roger's hands and feet needed rehabilitation training, and because they could not afford to pay 60,000 or 70,000 yuan, the mother and son had to return in vain.
Until 2009, a poverty alleviation fund of the Chengheng County Disabled Persons' Federation funded Roger to go to a specialist hospital in Guiyang for examination, and was eventually diagnosed with cerebral palsy. When they got the results, their parents were in pain like a thunderbolt on a sunny day.
But looking at poor Roger, the mother did not give up and continued to find ways to treat the child.
In 2010, Roger entered The Gailla Elementary School in his neighborhood. The school is far from home, and normal children need to walk half an hour to school every day. Roger, on the other hand, could only twist and turn, step by step, and could not get to school for an hour.
When it rains, I often fall all over the muddy water. His mother was distressed by Roger and quit her job to carry him to school and school every day. Alone, my father took on the burden of the family's life.
On the way to school, you have to pass through a small river, encounter rain and water, and you have to take a detour and walk for nearly two hours to get to school. The mother carried it like this for three years, picking up and dropping off on time every day, so Roger never arrived late, left early, and rarely took leave except for medical treatment. Later, my father bought back a motorcycle, and my mother rode every day to pick it up, which made it much more convenient.
Because of cerebral palsy, Roger's hands have been seriously deformed, and he cannot hold a pen in his right hand, so he can only rely on his left hand to hold the pen with his fist and write hard. His speech was slurred, and although his mind was clearer, he could not express himself normally with the people around him.
Fortunately, the teachers and classmates took good care of him, and when answering questions, the table company obliged him to translate vague words. When the teacher corrects the homework, when he encounters unclear words, he will also ask Roger to verify one by one and patiently explain. With the help of everyone, the children who strive to move forward on the road to school have not fallen behind in learning at all.

In 2016, Roger successfully entered the junior high school of Zhiheng County Erlou Middle School. Erlou Middle School is located in the county seat, although there is a distance of ten miles, but the school's teaching conditions are better, and his mother still uses a motorcycle to pull him to and from the school.
Junior high school is heavier, and the difficulty and depth have increased a lot. Roger was limited by his physical condition and gradually could not keep up with the pace of learning. Although his parents did not have too high requirements for him, the strong teenager was still troubled in his heart.
However, opportunity still favors people with hearts, and a chance conversation changes the trajectory of Roger's life.
One afternoon in the first year of junior high school, the students were all taking physical education classes on the playground. For physical reasons, Roger had to move freely in the classroom. As he passed the teacher's office, he found history teacher Huang Wenhao alone preparing for a lesson.
Just take the initiative to go in and ask how to read a word. Teacher Huang was very surprised at that time, and did not expect Roger, a disabled child, to be so studious. So I decided to help him. In this way, Teacher Huang coincidentally led Roger to the road of poetry creation.
Teacher Huang said to Roger, "What you say, others don't understand much." You can try to express your feelings in the form of poetry, which is a very simple and direct way. ”
With Mr. Huang's encouragement, a week later, Roger handed over his first poem, "Rainbow." The poem reads: "It is said that the rain is over the sky and the rainbow is clear, and it is not so... As long as you are smart enough, the seven colors change color. After translating the words one by one, the teachers were shocked and thought that Roger's poems were unique and distinctive.
Teacher Huang called Roger's mother to tell the good news. The mother was excited after hearing this, and years of hard work and perseverance were finally not in vain. Since then, writing poetry has become the greatest pleasure of Roger's life. Immersed in the ocean of poetry, he appealed his emotions and thoughts to the end of his pen and merged them into poem after poem.
In order to strengthen his literary cultivation, Roger went to the school library every day to read books, and his favorite was tagore's poetry. In the book, he is mesmerized, constantly absorbing the nourishment of literature.
He wrote in the poem: "Many people named Roger ... But I'm the only one with cerebral palsy. People say that cerebral palsy can't read, no, I don't agree. ”
Roger found direction and life goals in poetry, he changed his previous repression and introversion, and people became cheerful and confident.

Teacher Huang and the Chinese teacher hit the iron while it was hot and set up a poetry club in the school. Roger became president, and the poetry club was named "Disapproval of the Poetry Society", and soon five classmates joined in.
In addition to organizing the activities of the members of the poetry club, Roger insisted on creating his own works, and almost every day a poem came out. After being translated by Teacher Huang, it is collected and preserved.
Because of his physical condition, Roger does not communicate much with the outside world, and his heart is less affected by the complex world. Roger's heart is relatively pure, and it contains a colorful fairy tale world. The poems he wrote were full of sunshine, gratitude, and self-motivation.
Teacher Huang selected 15 of the more than 150 poems written by Roger and sent them to the magazine "World Buyi".
Soon after, the poem was published, and Roger received his first 550 yuan salary. Everyone came to congratulate him, and Roger shared the joy with everyone around him who helped him.
After the deeds of the little teenager who did not believe in fate, his unremitting efforts to improve himself and forge ahead on the road of writing poetry were discovered and reported by the "Guizhou Daily", and many media such as "Qianxian Daily" and CCTV conducted follow-up interviews, which caused great repercussions and attention.
Caring people have reached out to encourage him to face life positively and optimistically. Roger has now learned to type on the computer, and he will not have to revise the poems in the future without the teacher's brush strokes.
His biggest desire at the moment is to crowdfund a sum of money to publish his own poetry collection so that he can later support himself by writing.
Roger has suffered from illness since childhood, and cerebral palsy has doomed his life to twists and turns. Fortunately, his parents did not give up on him, and teachers and classmates tried their best to help him.
Writing poetry opened another window in his life, as he wrote in the poem: "Walking in the night, every step is difficult, but I have to walk!" ”
