One of the offerings, like a lamp, burns in front of a Buddha statue and keeps the lamp going out day and night. It is also used as a continuous lamp, an endless lamp, a night lamp, a longevity lamp, and a constant lamp. The lamp was originally for the buddha's use, and the Buddha is the one who has attained great enlightenment and great liberation, who has attained nirvana, whose nature is true and constant, and there is no difference between light and darkness between day and night, but in order to bless the giver, the method of burning the lamp for the Buddha should be continuous day and night, and the fire should not be extinguished.

The true meaning of the incense burning ceremony in Chinese Buddhism is to express respect, gratitude and remembrance of the Buddha. To be pure, to dedicate one's life, to enlighten one's life. There are four aspects to its significance

1. Expressing devotion and respect for offerings to the Three Jewels, so as to demonstrate and lead sentient beings.

2. It means that the information is transmitted to the Void Law Realm, and the blessing of the Ten Directions and Three Treasures is felt.

3. It means burning itself, and reminds Buddhist disciples of selfless dedication.

4. It means that the true incense of the Buddhist vows is lit, containing the silent vow of "diligently practicing the vows, concentration, and wisdom, extinguishing greed, noise, and delusion", and the Buddha does not like the world's great incense and precious incense, but likes the precepts, concentration, truth, and incense of the Buddha's disciples. Three sticks of incense are preferred. This means that the three precepts, concentration, and wisdom are not missed; it also means that the three treasures of buddha, Dharma, and sangha are permanently lived. This is the most complete and civilized incense offering. The incense is not much, the precious is in the heart, the so-called "burning three civilized incense, respect - piece of sincere heart."

The Meaning of the Butter Lamp in Tibetan Buddhism Lighting a butter lamp can turn the world into a torch, so that the wisdom of the fire is never hindered, the naked eye becomes extremely clear, understand the law of good and non-good, remove the darkness of obstacles and ignorance, gain the heart of wisdom, so that in the world will never be lost in the darkness, reincarnated in the higher realm, and quickly and completely free from compassion.

In the Great Tibetan Sutra, the merits of offering lamps are introduced in great detail, and there is a sutra called the Sutra of The Difference Between the Buddhas and the Elders, which preaches the ten merits of offering lamps

First, illuminate the world like a lamp. The lamp giver is born like a lamp in the world, and the reincarnated person is also the king of the people, just like the guru Ruyibao, the wisdom lamp illuminates the whole world.

Second, the naked eye is not bad. The lamp provider is very bright to the naked eye, and will not become blind or short-sighted. Some people can't see clearly, and they need to wear glasses with a high degree of degree, layer by layer, which shows that there has been no lamp before, and this life should be well provided. Joke! But it does have this merit.

Third, it is obtained from the eye of heaven. The lantern giver will receive the Heavenly Eye in the Five Eyes in the future.

Fourth, the wisdom of good and evil. Be able to distinguish between good and evil laws, and understand all cause and effect trade-offs. Many people in the world are now extremely blind, ignorant of the trade-off between good and evil, and the wisdom of the lamp giver is superior to that of others.

Sixth, to be intelligent and clear. His own wisdom is superior to that of the masses, he is not tempted by all kinds of external temptations, and he has the ability to discern and choose.

Seven, not in the dark. In lifetimes, there will be no rebirth in places of evil views or darkness, dwelling in special places of light.

VIII. Great Blessings. Reincarnated as beings with great blessings. People in the world think that the great blessing is to have money, status, cars, houses, renminbi, or dollars. In fact, I think that people who are truly blessed will not create sin karma in their lifetime, and have the opportunity to practice the good Fa. No money is not necessarily a shallow blessing, a person who encounters the Dharma in his lifetime, and the opportunity to practice the Dharma is perfect, that is, a person with great merit.

9. Life is lifelong. At the end of life, you will not fall into bad tastes, but will be reborn in the celestial realm. Other scriptures also say that those who provide lamps for a long time will not be born of evil tastes, but will be born of heavenly pleasures, and even if they are reborn on earth, they will be born in the families of noble races, and will not be born in the homes of those with evil views. A very small number of our Daoist friends grew up in families with evil views, the father's evil views are like the mountain king, and the mother's evil views are extremely serious, and it is difficult for children to change them with meager strength. And if you offer the lamp, you will not be reborn in this kind of family in this lifetime.

10. Nirvana. In a very short time, the fruit of the saint will be attained.

The ten merits introduced in this sutra should be remembered that if the lamp is given by faith, merit will be determined to be obtained. When Guru Ruyibao was alive, he also attached great importance to the offering of lamps, and the property of others to provide for his old man's family was all used as a fund for Puxian Yun offerings, and the monks were asked to provide 3,000 lamps a day, which has been the case for many years, and it has been nearly four years since his holiness has been silent, and it has never been interrupted. When speaking on the Sutra of Wisdom and Foolishness, His Holiness said that his fundamental guru, Toga Ruyibao, attached the greatest importance to two kinds of good roots throughout his life, one was to seal the Guanyin Sutra banner, and the other was to provide lamps. Toga Ruyibao offers 500 lamps a day, and the offerings made to him by others are basically not used for other merits, but are used to provide lamps. Similarly, in addition to the release of his life, his holiness did not attach much importance to other merits such as building monasteries and schools, and the most important thing was to provide lamps. The Kadampa samadhi also attached great importance to the offering of lamps, and they enshrined the statue of Shakyamuni, the sutras and the stupa in the Buddhist hall, and continuously supplied water and lamps. Therefore, if you have the ability, you should try to provide lamps.
