What makes me find it interesting is that this Tibetan opera, like Peking Opera, also has a face, but their faces are not directly painted on the face with oil paint, but wear masks. It is said that there is a legend about the origin of this Murdo temple fair, there was a Gelon Mountain, there was a brave Tibetan boy living in the mountain, called Murdo, who was recruited by the Tubo Dynasty, led the soldiers to repel the attack of Balbu, and returned triumphantly, the villagers felt that he was a very brave and loyal person, so they changed the name of Goron Mountain to Murdo Mountain, and built a temple under the mountain to sacrifice this warrior.
Legend has it that the tenth day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar is the birthday of Murdo, and people in the Jiarong area will come to Mount Murdo at this time to worship, and over time it has become a local traditional festival, which is the Murdo Temple Fair that we see today.
