Prince Harry and Meghan Markle addressed billions of people at the Global Citizen Live Festival in New York to talk about the pressing issue of vaccine equality.
This 24-hour live charity event was organized this year to support global access to vaccines.
Many celebrities attended the event, including Andy Cohen, Billy Potter, Katie Holmes and Rachel Brosnahan.
Prince Harry and Meghan are presidents of the Global Citizenship Movement, a new civic-centered movement dedicated to ending extreme poverty by 2030.
Prince Harry took to the stage and began his and Megan's speech:
"Are we ready to take the necessary steps to end this pandemic?"
Megan added:
"Right now, we have a lot of things we can do that will allow us to end the outbreak faster, and that's why we're here."
When the couple appeared, the crowd erupted into enthusiastic applause.
For the past few months, the couple has been caring for their newborn child and living a life away from the cameras and the public.
Harry continued:
"We're not just fighting the virus. It is a war of misinformation, bureaucracy, lack of transparency and channels, and most importantly, a human rights crisis. ”
"Everyone has a basic right to get vaccinated – that's key, but it's not happening."
The concert was one of seven coordinated concerts in London, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, Seoul, Sydney and Lagos to raise funds for a more equitable distribution of vaccines.
More than 70 international music stars, including Elton John, Steve Wonder, Billie Elish, Coldplay and the South Korean boy band Bulletproof Junior, attended the concert.
After arriving in New York earlier this week, the Harry Meghans' appearance at the festival is another of their appearances on a series of important public occasions.
Prior to the concert, Meghan and Prince Harry visited UN Headquarters and met with UN Under-Secretary-General Amina Mohammed.
They also visited a public school in Harlem, where they read a story to second-graders and donated Meghan's latest children's book, Bench.
