Wang Bodang Profile

Wang Bodang is a real character in the Sui and Tang Dynasties, Wang Yong (?) –20 January 619), courtesy name Bodang, was a Tang dynasty from Hejin, Shanxi. Wang Bodang was a major general in the rebel army of Wagangzhai during the Sui and Tang dynasties, and was a student of Li Mi, the leader of Wagangzhai, who defected to Wagangzhai with Li Mi.

Historically, Wang Bodang was a loyal general on Li Mi's side. In novels and other folklore such as "Sui and Tang Yanyi", "The Complete Biography of the Tang Dynasty", "Xing tang Biography" and other folklore, Wang Bodang is known for his good shooting, nicknamed Yongsaburo.

In different novels, Wang Bodang's ranking is not the same. In the "Sui and Tang Dynasty", Wang Bodang ranked sixth in Wagangzhai and seventeenth in the "Eighteen Jie". In the "Complete Biography of the Tang Dynasty", Wang Bodang is not among the "Eighteen Heroes of the Sui and Tang Dynasties", and some descendants have added him to the fourteenth place. In the "Biography of Xing Tang", Wang Bodang is the fourteenth of the "Sixteen Masters". But no matter how ranked, Wang Bodang's archery skills are outstanding in any work.

In the Yanshan Coach Field Competition, Qin Shubao's two-eagle technique with one stone overwhelmed the crowd, but the book said that this arrow technique was passed down by Wang Bodang. Obviously, Wang Bodang's archery skills were higher than Qin Shubao's.

Later, Qin Shubao was chased by Wei Wentong, the ninth best man in the book, to a river, and when Uncle Qin's HORSE fell to the bottom of the river and was about to be cut by Wei Wentong. Wang Bodang shot an arrow from the other side of the river, right in Wei Wentong's left hand. Wang Bodang shouted, "I will shoot your right hand." Another arrow came, and sure enough, it hit Wei Wentong's right hand. Wang Bodang shouted again, "If you don't leave, I'm going to shoot you in the heart." Wei Wentong was shocked, so he let Qin Shubao go, and the emperor retreated in a hurry. In addition, Wang Bodang also shot and killed the Hongni Guanguan general Xin Wenli and others, and became the well-deserved first sharpshooter in the "Sui and Tang Dynasties".

How did Wang Bodang die?

Li Mi and Wang Shichong fought a decisive battle at Yanshi and ordered Wang Bodang to defend the rear base of Jin Yongcheng. Soon, Li Mi's army was defeated, and Wang Bodang also abandoned Jin Yongcheng to meet Li Mi. Li Mi decided to surrender to Tang, and Wang Bodang expressed his willingness to die with him.

After Li Mi surrendered to Tang, he decided to rebel because he was not reused by Li Yuan. Wang Bodang was unable to persuade him, so he decided to coexist and die with Li Mi. After Li Mi attacked Taolin County, he wanted to throw himself into the general Zhang Shanxiang, but on the way he was ambushed by the Tang general Sheng Yanshi, and Li Mi and Wang Bodang were both killed, and Bo Wasang was also a loyal soldier.
