Wanquan Lake is as blue as a mirror, with green trees, and the red leaves of Baijian Mountain are like fire, and the layers of forests are dyed. In the history of Linzhou, water is as expensive as oil, and there are nine droughts in ten years; the people of Linzhou struggle with the sky and live a difficult life. Although there are ponds, streams, waterfalls, and springs, in the event of famine years, it is not enough to survive; although there are Qi, Huai, Huan, and Zhang, there is often no water flowing in the non-rainy season. From the first year of the Ming Dynasty to the founding of the Republic, more than five hundred years have passed, natural disasters have occurred frequently, droughts have raged, and the people have been miserable. The county chronicle records that there have been more than 100 natural disasters, 38 severe droughts, and as many as five "cannibalism", and thousands of blood and tears have become a thing of the past.
