Kan Chao and Luo Shengguang (holding the Chronicle of General Kan Weiyong in his hand)

Since Kan Chao (the eldest grandson of General Kan Weiyong) visited the anti-Japanese veteran Huang Haichao in Daxin Village, Quanzhou County, Guilin City, Guangxi Province, on February 23, 2019, when he learned that another survivor of the Guilin Defense War, Luo Shengguang, was in Luchuan County, he decided to go to comfort his subordinates who had participated in the Guilin Defense War with General Kan.

During the "March 3" holiday in Guangxi, Kan Chao and volunteer Xiao Xiao went to Luchuan County, Guangxi Province, to find the elderly Luo Shengguang. Teacher Chen Jifeng of Luchuan County, who learned of this matter, was very enthusiastic, gave up the rest time of the holiday, and took advantage of his familiarity with the local geographical location and local dialect to personally drive to Lupo Village in Qinghu Town.

After more than two hours of driving, finally came to the Lupo Village Committee of Qinghu Town, Luchuan County, Teacher Chen Jifeng inquired about the situation in Hakka dialect, enthusiastic villagers helped Teacher Chen contact the village committee cadre Huang Wengang, Huang Wengang learned that General Kan's grandson and volunteers came to visit the hero, immediately put down the farm work in hand, and led the group to Luo Lao's home together.

When he arrived at Luo Lao's home, the 96-year-old man was preparing bamboo baskets, and after the introduction of the village cadres Huang Wengang and Teacher Chen, Luo Lao excitedly shook the hands of the senior officer's junior and invited him to sit down for tea. Luo Lao recalled the experience of participating in the defense of Guilin in that year, although 75 years have passed since this defense war, the old man can still tell the heroic battle experience of Chinese soldiers against the Japanese army in Guilin City's Pingfeng Mountain and Seven Star Rock. Luo Shengguang later retreated to Xingpingwei in Yangshuo County, where he was taken in by the local government, where he was issued with weapons and began a guerrilla war in Yangshuo until the Japanese surrendered.

Elder Luo also recalled the scene of meeting with Master Kan twice.

Then, Elder Luo told everyone that last year, with the sponsorship of Lu Chuan's volunteer team, he went to Guilin to meet his comrades in the Yellow Sea Tide who defended Guilin for 74 years, and paid homage to the tombs of the three generals and eight hundred heroes, and gardened the dreams in his heart for 74 years.

Introduction of Luo Shengguang, a veteran of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression

Luo Shengguang was born in 1924 in Luchuan, Guangxi. In the spring of 1944, he was conscripted into the army, walked to Nanning, received military training, and was incorporated into the Thirty-first Army of the National Revolutionary Army. After three months of training in Nanning, the troops began to be transferred to Guilin.

The first thing I did when I arrived in Guilin was to build fortifications and forts. At that time, the regimental headquarters of the 391st Regiment was located in Qixingyan, and the three battalions were stationed at Pingfeng Mountain. Fighting began in September of the lunar calendar, and the Japanese army came mainly from the north and east. For the first two or three days, the troops fought mainly at night and at dusk, and there was no fighting during the day. During the day, the Chinese army's own planes came over. After five or six days of playing, it started to rain. In this way, the plane could not arrive, and the Chinese army would sometimes take the initiative to attack. Not long after the Hat Er Mountain was breached, the Japanese army began to use flares at night to illuminate the entire mountain. On the tenth night, the troops were forced to retreat to the Seven Star Rock, and after a hard time, the troops were scattered.

Luo Shengguang retreated to Xingpingwei in Yangshuo County, where he was taken in by the local government, where he was given weapons and began to form a self-defense force. Organized by the county magistrate, guerrilla warfare began in Yangshuo. It was fought until the Japanese surrendered, and the Japanese returned to Guilin after surrendering.

After the victory of the War of Resistance, Luo Shengguang returned to his hometown because his mother was ill.
