Guilin, April 29 (Tang Mengxian, Jiang Fenghui, Ou Huilan) "Our culture, blood, genes, and surnames represent that we are the descendants of the dragon, and we undertake the mission of history, and we need to pass on the truth of history from generation to generation to commemorate the national martyrs who sacrificed for the country." The younger generation on both sides of the strait must not forget their roots and should find a sense of national identity in their common history. Zhou Zhenqian, a Taiwanese teacher at Guangxi colleges and universities, said in an interview on the 28th.

On the afternoon of the same day, Taiwanese teachers from Guangxi colleges and universities who participated in the "100 Taiwan Teachers Looking at Guangxi" activity came to Guilin's Seven Star Park and stood solemnly in front of the "Tomb of the Eight Hundred Heroes," silently mourned the soldiers who died in the defense of Guilin, and bowed three times to the fallen soldiers of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Listen to the narrator tell the story of the martyrdom of the 800 heroes and three generals of the Anti-Japanese Resistance.

In early November 1944, the Japanese army invaded Guilin, the Kuomintang Fourth Theater organized the defense of Guilin, and Kan Weiyong, commander of the 131st Division of the 31st Army, led his troops to fight with the enemy, and finally because he was outnumbered, he committed suicide and martyrdom, fulfilling his vow to coexist and die with Guilin. Chen Jihuan, chief of staff of the City Defense Command, and Lü Xumeng, chief of staff of the 31st Army, were blocked on the way to break through, and Lü Xumeng was killed, Chen Jihuan was seriously wounded, and he was martyred with a gun. The officers and men of the 391st Regiment of the 131st Division retreated to Qixingyan and insisted on resisting, and the Japanese army cast poisonous gas into the cave, and more than 800 officers and men died heroically. In 1945, after the restoration of Guilin, the government organized a cleaning team and an engineering team to go to Qixingyan, carrying a total of 823 bodies of martyrs and burying them in the tomb of 800 heroes at the top of Bowangping in Putuo Mountain, adjacent to the Memorial Tower of the Death of the Three Generals.

"It was the martyrs who threw their heads and spilled their blood to have our happy generation today, and the history of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression is the common history of the two sides of the strait." Finding the stories of the martyrs, understanding the stories of the martyrs, and telling the stories of the martyrs well are necessary ways to enhance the sense of identity between the two sides of the strait. Pan Bainian, a Taiwanese teacher at Guangxi colleges and universities, said.
