Yue Fei was a well-known hero in Chinese, and in order to show their respect for him, posterity often did not call him by his first name, but called him Yue Shaobao and Yue Wumu. Shaobao is an honorary title awarded to senior officials in ancient times, and Yue Fei was awarded this honor in the tenth year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1140). Therefore, in some historical documents and novels about the Southern Song Dynasty, people often see people refer to Yue Fei as "Yue Shaobao". So what does Yue Wumu mean?
Wumu is actually an ancient nickname. The so-called nickname refers to the text evaluation given or praise or derogatory after the death of a person, and the posterity evaluates it according to his life deeds, which almost has the meaning of covering the coffin. According to the explanation in the Yi Zhou Shu Tan Fa Xie: "Wei Yi Wei De Yue Wu, Ke Ding Disaster Chaos Yue Wu, Criminals Overcome Yue Wu, Kwa Zhi Duo Poor Yue Wu." "Bude is righteous and Mu, and the middle sentiment is known as Mu." From these texts, it can be seen that the nickname "Wu Mu" is highly evaluated. So in addition to Yue Fei in history, what other people with the title of Wu Mu were there? The answer is that there are six more.
1. Li Guangbi (708-764), a famous general in the middle of the Tang Dynasty, was on a par with Guo Ziyi, and was known as "Li Guo". Li Guangbi was resourceful and had a very high prestige in the army, and the history books said that "Only Guangbi marched to govern the army, was resolute and strategic, and was the first among the generals." After the outbreak of the "Anshi Rebellion", Guo Ziyi and Li Guangbi were ordered to turn the tide and finally successfully quell the rebellion, and the New Book of Tang praised Li Guangbi for "promoting his battle exploits as the first in Zhongxing". In the second year of Guangde of the Tang Dynasty (764), Li Guangbi died of illness in Xuzhou at the age of fifty-seven. Posthumously presented Sikong and Taibao with the nickname "Wumu".
2. Ma Yin (852-930), founding monarch of Southern Chu during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. Ma Yin was born in poverty, and in the chaotic world at the end of the Tang Dynasty, he devoted himself to the army, and was known for his bravery in the army, and as a result, he continued to add officials to knighthoods, and became a general of the service and Zhongshu Ling, the King of Chu, and the general of Bai Tiance. In the second year of Tiancheng (927), the Later Tang Emperor Li Siyuan made Ma Yin the King of southern Chu. Three years later, Ma Yin died of illness at the age of seventy-nine, with the nickname "Wu Mu".
Gao Huaide (926-982), a famous general of the Northern Song Dynasty. Gao Huaide was born as a shogun and was known as a brave warrior when he was young. In the Later Zhou Dynasty, Zhao Kuangyin rose rapidly in the army, and Gao Huaide became Zhao Kuangyin's confidant. Later, Zhao Kuangyin launched the "Chen Qiao Mutiny" to establish the Song Dynasty, and Gao Huaide used the merit of the decision to inspect the former deputy capital of the official worship hall. After Emperor Taizong of Song ascended the throne, Gao Huaide was appointed as an envoy and attendant of the Wusheng Army. In the seventh year of the Taiping Revival (982), he died at the end of his life, and after his death, he was posthumously awarded the title of King of Bohai County, with the posthumous title of "Wu Mu".
4. Cao Wei (1098-1162), a famous general of the Northern Song Dynasty and the son of The Founding Father Cao Bin. The Northern Song Dynasty lacked generals, but Cao Wei was one of the few famous generals. When he was a teenager, he served in the army with his father, and the history books say that he was "brave and strategic, liked to read, and passed through the "Three Biographies of Spring and Autumn", especially in the "Zuo Clan". During Cao Wei's garrison on the western border of the Song Dynasty, he was very meritorious and broke Li Lizun's army in the "Battle of the Three Capital Valleys". In addition, Cao Wei also formulated many important preventive measures for the western border defense of the Northern Song Dynasty, most of which were used by later generations. In the eighth year of Tiansheng (1030), Cao Wei died at the age of fifty-eight. The imperial court posthumously gave him the title of "Wu Mu", and later generations called him "Cao Wu Mu".
5. Liu Kai (1098-1162), a famous general of the Southern Song Dynasty. In the early days of the establishment of the Southern Song Dynasty, he was awarded the title of LongYouDu Protector and defeated the Western Xia many times. Later, in the "Great Victory of Shunchang" and the "Battle of Gargao", the Jin Army invaded successively. Although liu kui's name is not included in the "Four Generals of Zhongxing" in the Southern Song Dynasty, objectively speaking, Liu Kun's ability and merit are far above the other three people except Yue Fei. In the thirty-second year of Shaoxing (1162), Liu Kun died and was given the title of "Wu Mu" (武穆) by the kaifu Yi Tongsan Division.
6. Bo Luohuan (1236-1300), a famous general of the Yuan Dynasty. Bo Luohuan was a Mongolian wubu man, and in his early years he was the chief judge of the headquarters. Later, a civil war broke out between Kublai Khan and Ali Buge for the position of Khan of the Mongol Empire, and Boro Huan accompanied Kublai Khan on his expeditions and made many achievements in battle. In the "History of the Yuan", it is said that Boluo Huan was brave and wise, and often led by example in battle, and the property he obtained was known to the soldiers, so he gained his death power. After the establishment of the Yuan Dynasty, Bo Luohuan led the Left Route Army south to attack the Song Dynasty as the general of Jin Wuwei and the right minister of Zhongshu. By the fourteenth year of the Yuan Dynasty (1277), Kublai Khan, the ancestor of the Boluohuan Dynasty, was recruiting the "Naiyan Rebellion" (Naiyan was a descendant of Genghis Khan's younger brother Temuge Chijin). In the first year of Dade (1297), the Boluo Huan official Bai Guanglu Dafu, Shangzhu Guo, Jiangsu and Zhejiang were in charge of the political affairs of Zhongshu Province's Pingzhang. He died a year later, at the age of sixty-three. After Bo Luohuan's death, the imperial court posthumously awarded the title many times, and gave Tui ZhongXuanli praise the meritorious servants, Taishi, Kaifu Yi tongsansi, and Shangzhu Guo, and crowned the King of Tai'an, "Wu Mu".
