In the land of Ruxi in the anti-Japanese battlefield, there is a well-known "Zhao Third Battalion" active.

The commander of this battalion is Zhao Jianmin, a native of Zhao Liangtang Village, Guan County, Shandong Province, born in 1912, entered the Linqing Six Counties United Simple Division Normal School in 1931, was admitted to the Provincial First Rural Normal School in 1932, and was introduced to the organization by Yao Zhongming in the winter of the same year.

In July 1933, Song Mingshi, director of the Shandong Organization Department, and others defected one after another, the provincial party committee was seriously damaged, more than 300 party members were arrested, and only 8 party members in Jinan, including Yao Zhongming, Zhao Jianmin, and Wang Wenxuan, were left, and the contact with their superiors was completely broken. Yao Zhongming returned to Dong'a to develop party members, Zhao Jianmin and Wang Wenxuan were ordered to rebuild the Jinan Municipal Party Committee, with Zhao Jianmin as secretary and Wang Wenxuan as propaganda minister.

Young Zhao Jianmin

Beginning in the second half of 1934, Zhao Jianmin rode around on a broken bicycle in search of the organization.

In a year and a half, Zhao Jianmin ran for more than 35,000 miles, and finally found the Northern Bureau in Guyun Town, Xinxian County, Shandong, and soon the Northern Bureau sent Li Yu to Shandong. In May 1936, Li Yu came to Jinan and rebuilt shandong organizations at all levels with the cooperation of Zhao Jianmin.

In July 1936, Zhao Jianmin's introducer Yao Zhongming was arrested, and Li Yu and Zhao Jianmin hid in Feicheng for more than a month, returning to Jinan in late August. On September 27, Zhao Jianmin was recognized and arrested by the traitor Fang Chunrong when he was on the street, and Zhao Jianmin calmly swallowed the Wayao Fort resolution in his long shirt, but the small notepad, pen and pocket money were searched.

In October, Shandong Chairman Han Fuyu personally interrogated Zhao Jianmin, reprimanding Zhao Jianmin for not studying well and causing trouble, Zhao Jianmin for not being humble and humble, refuting the rise and fall of the country, and Han Fuyu was dumbfounded. Zhao Jianmin, Yao Zhongming, Li Qi and 19 other people established a prison branch and persisted in the struggle. After the outbreak of the All-out War of Resistance, Yan'an sent Zhang Jingwu to negotiate with Han Fuyu, and Zhao Jianmin and others were released.

After Zhao Jianmin was released from prison, he took the initiative to ask Li Yu to return to Guan County to develop armed forces, and in a short time won the local green forest team "South Pole" to be reorganized into six anti-Japanese guerrilla detachments in the sixth district of Shandong, and then the "North Pole" was reorganized into five teams.

In 1938, Zhao Jianmin was organized and sent to Liaocheng Fanzhu Anti-Japanese Column to serve as the secretary of the Luxit Committee. During the Battle of Taierzhuang, Zhao Jianmin and Fan Zhuxian's column attacked Jinan twice, much to the surprise of the Japanese army. In November, the Japanese army captured Liaocheng, and Fan Zhuxian and 700 soldiers were martyred.

General Fan Zhuxian

In January 1939, the Chikusan Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Column was established, with Zhang Weihan as the commander and Zhao Jianmin as the deputy commander of the 3rd Regiment.

Shortly after the formation of the column, in February it encountered an attack of more than 1,000 Japanese and pseudo-japanese tanks, and the young Chikusho column was outnumbered and quickly dispersed. Zhao Jianmin gathered more than 400 people and fought guerrilla warfare in the Great Plains around Guan County and the Japanese puppet army.

In April, Zhang Weihan returned to the column, and according to the requirements of the Luxi Special Committee and the 115th Division, the main force of the Zhuxian Column only retained the 7th Regiment and the Independent Regiment, and the other units were reorganized into battalions to disperse and fight guerrillas. Zhao Jianmin served as the commander of the 3rd Battalion, and the activity area was mainly around Guan County.

In early May, more than 2,000 Japanese infantry and cavalry attacked Guan county and Guantao base areas from Liaocheng, Xinxian, Tangyi, Linqing and other combined forces. Zhao Jianmin led 3 battalions to take the initiative to withdraw from Guan County, and after the Japanese puppet army entered the county seat, he sent a small detachment to attack and harass on all sides day and night. The Japanese puppet army finally withdrew from Guan County, and Zhao Jianmin set up an ambush at HanCun to crush the puppet army, and chased the enemy all the way out of XinXian County.

On July 6, 1939, the headquarters of the Eighth Route Army decided that the military command north of the Yellow River would be assigned to the 129th Division.

The 3rd Battalion was stationed in Chen Guanzhuang, 30 miles east of Guanxian City, where more than 200 households were located, and Zhao Jianmin took precautions and ordered his troops to build various fortifications around the wall of the village, and also added fortifications in Xiaoyinzhuang, which was 1 mile away. On October 1, more than 4,000 people of the Japanese Guangyue Brigade "swept" the town of Sang'a.

The Japanese cavalry was at the forefront, followed by infantry brigades mixed with mortars, heavy machine gun companies, and a mountain artillery team of Foreign Horses, and finally a heavy team of more than 40 vehicles. After zhao Jianmin received reconnaissance information, he was determined to focus on attacking the last heavy unit of the Japanese army.

Type 92 heavy machine gun

In terms of troop deployment, Zhao Jianmin ordered deputy battalion commander Zhang Wenji to lead 2 companies to ambush Xiaoyinzhuang, 3 companies to ambush Xiaosong forest, and 1 company to hide in Chen Guanzhuang Village to meet the enemy. When the Japanese heavy convoy entered the firing range, Zhao Jianmin gave an order and a company of dense platoon guns shot at the enemy. The Japanese army was in a hurry, and when the infantry and artillery turned back to counterattack, Zhao Jianmin and the 1st Company withdrew to the village.

The Japanese 3 "92" heavy machine guns fired wildly, and when they saw that there was no return fire inside the wall, the infantry attacked. Zhao Jianmin ordered the correspondent and sharpshooter Zhao Xiaoqing to shoot the Japanese commander and stop the Japanese attack. At the same time, the 2nd Company in Xiaoyinzhuang and the 3rd Company in Xiaosonglin also gave the Japanese a blow in the head, and the Japanese army repeatedly attacked and was repelled, and the deputy battalion commander Zhang Wenji was killed at dusk.

After nightfall, the Japanese army, which was not good at night fighting, stopped attacking, Zhao Jianmin had already sent people to reconnoiter the surroundings of the village, and the northwest direction of Chen Guanzhuang was the weak point of the Japanese army, leading the 3 battalions to jump out of the encirclement circle at night and march 60 miles to Liujiadianzi in Chaocheng County to rest.

Early the next morning, the commander of the column, Zhang Weihan, came to the 3rd Battalion to offer condolences. Congratulations to Battalion 3 for a big win. In this battle, Zhao Jianmin and the "Zhao Third Battalion" killed and wounded more than 110 Japanese troops, only 24 casualties, and the battle loss ratio was 5 to 1, which can be called a typical ambush battle in the plain area of the Eighth Route Army.

In June 1940, the Zhuxian Column was reorganized into the New 8th Brigade of the 129th Division, with Zhang Weihan as the brigade commander, Xiao Yongzhi as the political commissar, and Zhao Jianmin as the commander of the 3rd Battalion of the 22nd Regiment. Zhao Jianmin and the 3rd Battalion's repeated battles and victories made the Japanese puppet army uneasy, and the local people affectionately called Zhao Jianmin "Zhao Zilong".

Former residence of Zhao Jianmin

In January 1942, Zhao Jianmin was appointed commander of the Lubei Military Subdistrict of the Hebei-Luyu Military Region.

With Okamura Ninji's "May Day sweep" in Hebei, Northwest Lu entered the most difficult period. In October, the Huimin detachment broke through from Jizhong to the Jilu Border Region, and the commander of the Jiluyu Military Region talked to Zhao Jianmin and asked him to be Ma Benzhai's deputy.

Zhao Jianmin and Ma Benzhai commanded the Huimin detachment and the main force regiment of the military region, constantly counterattacked the Japanese army's policy of "strengthening public order" and "cages" in Guan County, successively taking many strongholds such as Tianzhai, Zhao Gu, and Twenty Mile Shop, and organizing tens of thousands of people to fill in the Japanese army's blockade ditch for more than 40 miles.

In February 1944, Ma Benzhai died of illness on the eve of preparing to lead the Muslim detachment to Yan'an, and was buried in Zhanglu Town, Xinxian County. Zhao Jianmin, who had lost his partner, took over as the commander of the 3rd Sub-district of Jiluyu, liberated the county seat of Xinxian County six months later, and captured Liu Xianzhou, the pseudo-county magistrate and security commander, alive.

After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Zhao Jianmin served as deputy political commissar of the Hebei-Luyu Military Region and assisted the commander Wang Bingzhang in participating in the Longhai Road and the Northern Henan Offensive. In July 1947, he took over as the commander of the Jiluyu Military Region and participated in the Battle of Southwest Lu. In 1948, Zhao Jianmin served as the political commissar of the 11th Column in Nakano, and together with Wang Bingzhang led the 11th Column to participate in the Battles of Suiqi and Huaihai. In February 1949, he was appointed political commissar of the Erye 17th Army and commander Wang Bingzhang.

In August 1949, Wang Bingzhang was transferred to the chief of staff of the Air Force, Zhao Jianmin took over as the commander and political commissar of the 17th Army, and when he marched into the southwest, he and the deputy commander Dai Runsheng led the 17th Army to aid Kunming in a car, and in one fell swoop lifted the siege of Longyun in the uprising, and was commended by Liu Deng.

After the founding of New China, Zhao Jianmin was transferred to the vice minister of railways and left the army.

When he was awarded the title in September 1955, Zhao Jianmin served as the third secretary, governor and secretary of the Supervision Commission of Shandong, so he did not participate in the appraisal. His partner at the time, Wang Bingzhang, was awarded the rank of lieutenant general, Wang Wenxuan was awarded the rank of major general, and Zhang Weihan was awarded the rank of colonel. And Li Yu and Yao Zhongming went to work in the local area, but they did not participate in the awarding of titles.

In April 1963, Zhao Jianmin became the secretary of the Secretariat of Yunnan. In April 1978, he was reinstated as the deputy minister of the Third Ministry of Machinery Industry. On April 8, 2012, Luxi "Zhao Zilong" Zhao Jianmin died of illness at the age of 100.
